Morbius is one of many movies to have suffered multiple delays as a result of the pandemic, but with just a few short months to go until it arrives in theaters, Sony Pictures has shared an undeniably impressive three-minute trailer. There are loads of references to the studio's Spider-Man Universe here, including the reveal that it seemingly takes place after Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
We'll have an in-depth breakdown of those Easter Eggs a little later today, and there's no denying that this is an exciting teaser that could help change the minds of any sceptics.
After all, a lot of fans have questioned the necessity of a Morbius movie, but Leto looks like a good fit for the Living Vampire and that transformation is definitely comic book accurate. We're excited to see more, and if this sneak peek is any indication, the character's origin story should be a blast.
"One of Marvel's most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil - or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?"
The cast of Morbius includes Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson, while the movie will arrive exclusively in theaters on January 28, 2022.
