The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

looking closer i see what they did with the texture of the suit. If you loook in the above poster closely you can see like these little honey combs in the texture of the suit. Instead of it being more flat they really went with the opposite and raise the honey comb like texture. If you also notice the webbs on the suit are raised in the poster for spider man 2. In the amazing spider-man poster the webbing is indented and kinds built in to the texture of the suit. So in other words whats raised on raimi's spiderman is not in Webb's Spidey suit, what's not raised and kinda in the texture of raimi's suit is raised in Marc Webb's spidey suit. I totally understand it now. They wanted to go with a different touch up of the suit with a new modern twist. I like it and approve of it. I'm glad i just caught that, it really takes the "Straying away from raimi's completely" thing quite more in depth than we'd ever thought

Uh, romance is pretty important in the Spider-Man universe.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's part of character development and chemistry.
Just because the romance in Nolan's Batman movies sucked doesn't mean romance sucks in general. Does this have to do with romance being "gay"? Because it's part of the relatability of the character...unless of course you've never had a girlfriend...which would explain your hostility towards it...

Just look at the mask and he bicep of both posters very closely. They look like tiny honey combs. Marc webb just raised his honey combs where as Raimi's Honey-Combs were kinda sewn into the fabric. This is the opposite for the wbbing and the symbols they were kinda glued on in Raimi's suit and on Marc Webb they're built into the texture of what ever fabric of plastic they used

Yeah romance effects Spidey, so do the numerous villains. Where the hells a poster of that crap they call the Lizard and Spider-Man. Instead, we get a thousand posters of various poses and Gwen Stacey.

The Batman films had no romance. Rachel was so unlikable and seemed so stuck up in TDK that I didn't even feel bad when she was killed, in fact no one in the theatre seemed to care.

No. Romance appeases the people that aren't afraid to express their feelings and want more than just action and adventure. It's the most powerful human emotion, and can cause you to connect and relate to a character on a deeper level, which in turn gives the movie depth, which is important to a film so that it can have a long lifespan and last for years to come.
And maybe they're showing Gwen because she's...A STAR CHARACTER?
They had the character posters, and they released a Lizard poster, CBM just hasn't posted it.

If not, then that's what you sound like. This movie isn't a romance, but it will have romance in it, since Gwen is a main character, her and Peter will be together a lot. And since the whole focus of Spider-Man (both comic wise and movie wise) is Peter, then it'll show him experiencing these things. Peter is what made Spider-Man unique from other superheroes. A lot of people seem to have forgotten about that.

Lol yeah, the girl who saves mini joffrey (albeit before joffrey) is unlikable. Troll harder moron. She is essential to Bruce Waynes growth and understanding of whats right. Well maybe you’re just a, oh hey, MORON. I felt for it as it did most wait not most ALL of my friends. She seemed stuck up because she wanted to protect Wayne and his need to save the city? She knew Bruce loved her but could never let him abandon Batman for her. Its really sad actually for anyone with a mind. Her death is the perfect way to make the Joker both menacing and the Batman broken.

Give me a break, want more than action and adventure. Avengers was awesome. EVERYONE will admit the few scenes with Pepper Potts were the worst. Romance is prevalent in EVERYTHING, we don’t need it plaguing super hero films. Again, I’m NOT saying romance shouldn’t be in it at all. I’m just saying it should NEVER be the focus of any CBM. LOL yeah its important, if this film series has the balls to kill Stacey off, she sure will have a long lifespan lol. That’s all nice and sound, but honestly save it for the Hallmark cards.

No, I’m one of those romance is an overrated and TIRED way of hooking audiences. Do it better, more unique. IF Eddie Brock starts off as a friend like in Spectacular, that would be a fantastic way to show how his turn to Venom would affect Peter. I want brotherly connections. I prefer it. Romance is IN EVERYTHING.

Except a nerd never gets the hot girl in real life. A nerd doesn’t magically get something worthy of a hot girls attention. You can admire Peter for rising to the ranks, and being that fictional transformation nerds wish they could have, but it doesn’t. So how about we make it more relatable by making it more about his teenage life that isn’t romance. I hear Uncle Ben isn’t even that important in this film. Wheres family? Wheres harry Osborn? Wheres the problems with maybe school itself?

In the comics, Peter's main struggles at the beginning was Uncle Ben dying and getting bullied by Flash in class. So getting bullied is easily defined as school struggles. Uncle Ben's death changes his attitude towards everything, Spider-Man, life, etc. We will see that in this film. As far as romance, I think that we have to see some kind of development before Gwen is killed off. But I don't think that it's going to be mushy romance, I think it going to be more about their chemistry and Gwen worrying about Peter being Spider-Man. Much like Gwen worrying about her father. They both a in danger at all times. So it's a different kind of romance. It's not the "I love you, you mean everything to me romance" like in a romantic film. This is all about chemistry and deepness of the characters.

The bullying doesn't seem emphasized at all, in at least anything we've seen. I've heard we will see Bens death in the film, but it will be AFTER he's Spider-Man and not that big of a deal in this one. If theres one thing to love about Raimi's films, its that they got that part right.

You see I'm fine with that, Just don't make it the damn bulk of the film.

You're not schooling me on anything. Romance is a big part of comics, since every comic book seems to have it. Superman had a poster with Superman and Lois Lane in it.
One of the most iconic scenes in the first Superman movie is when Superman introduces himself to Lois. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are the two stars in the movie, so why shouldn't they have a poster with both of them? Romance is going to be in TDKR as IM53 said, so complaining about it when it comes to this film but not saying anything about it in TDKR makes you sound biased and hypocritical.

And why is it that people who support this movie are considered "stupid" or "mindless", but if you criticize every aspect that you can about it then you're considered ok? You people are ignorant and close minded. Why is there so much romance in movies? Because it gives the movie more character and different paces throughout. Same reason as to why there are so many love songs. It allows the characters to express themselves the most powerful way they can.
