SPIDER-MAN 3: Tom Holland Reveals When He Starts Shooting; Marvel Looking For Protesters And Reporters

Tom Holland has shared a big update on when he plans to start shooting Spider-Man 3 (and how long that will last), while Marvel Studios is looking for extras to play protesters, reporters, and more...

Spider-Man 3 is already shooting in New York, but with Tom Holland busy in Berlin working on Uncharted, production commenced minus the movie's lead star. In a video shared by the actor's father, Holland talked about heading to Spain - presumably for more work on the aforementioned video game adaptation - and then Atlanta to film the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures production.

It was then his dad mentioned that he'll be working on Spider-Man 3 until March, with it unclear whether the Spider-Man actor will be able to return home to the UK for Christmas.

It's clearly going to be a priority to finish this movie on schedule - no great surprise when Sony Pictures recently confirmed that they're sticking to that December 2021 release date. Andrew Garfield has been spotted shooting a movie in New York recently, but that's Lin Manuel Miranda's Tick, Tick...Boom, and not Spider-Man 3

However, something we do know is that the threequel is going to shoot under the working title "The November Project" in Atlanta, and that Marvel Studios is looking for extras to play cameramen, reporters, photographers, protesters and high school students.

The mention of protesters is definitely interesting; are they perhaps campaigning for or against the web-slinger's innocence after Mysterio framed him for murder at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home?

We'll have to wait and see.

I literally have no idea what direction this movie is going in, and I'm not sure if it excites or worries me.

@Kumkani - Me too. I just hope there is another main villain besides reused Electro.

@Kumkani - fans want a meduim scale adventure/thriller of Peter running from villains and public opinion, Sony wants venom-verse and sinister 6 so badly and Marvel wants to continue exploring the multiverse to beat DC to the punch. This won't be a mess at all.

@JustALurker - Putting it that way, it sounds pretty much like The Amazing Spider-man 2, a movie NO ONE was able to set their mind on one direction and who ended up trying to be multiple things at the same time and spectacularly failing in every ones of them, satisfying pretty much no one.

@JohnnyTBP - I don't think that's what people will end up protesting about here.

This trailer of a spider verse movie looks pretty sick! Not a fan of making Spidey 3 anything similar to this though since I just think it’s far too early and that there’s simply a more interesting story to tell using only Tom holland Spidey given his characters circumstances right now. but eventually, if it has to happen, 🤷‍♂️

Anybody have any predictions: is this the last MCU Spider-man movie (besides Dr Strange or whatever event film?)? Will Sony take him back or will there be a new deal struck?
JFerguson
JFerguson - 10/22/2020, 2:58 AM
@parkerray - i think new deal but Sony will ask for more reign on mcu connections. Will ask for an mcu character to appear in spiderwoman or for wakanda reference in Kraven movie or some bs. Marvel continues ignoring Sony filth in their own stuff.

@JFerguson - Sony filth, the perfect description. Trying to even pay attention to most of Venom was a chore, like losing 20yrs, going back to the worst of cbms from the 80s. Generic villain could not have been less of a threat or more mediocre. Thinking of Jessica Drew trapped over there and away from Fiege and co is a bit wretched, even with a great director. Wilde can’t do it alone.

@parkerray - I think there won't be a new deal and including the multiverse in a Spider-Man movie is just so they can give SM a proper send off back to Sony without killing off the character. They can put Tom's SM in the Sony Marvel Universe if they want to continue with him.

@parkerray - I think Sony is embracing the multiverse route. This allows Spidey to stay in MCU but still interact with Sony’s SpiderVerse. Best bet they get 3 more films in MCU plus 2 Avengers movies. Sony’s return on investment for the character have increased since he joined the MCU. I don’t think they will take him out

parkerray - 10/23/2020, 2:04 AM
@Roodi - ahh I’m worried about that too. Would be sad because those would be the first Spidey films I won’t pay to see at the movies.
parkerray
parkerray - 10/23/2020, 2:20 AM
@MrDandy - I really hope that’s true, even though multiverse is not what I would’ve hoped for the end of this trilogy. But maybe it will surprise and still have a well developed Kraven and/or a great Sinister Six. A decent Rhino, DD or other street level cameos, and as much Zendaya as possible. Though it seems like all or most of those things I really hoped for will take a backseat if multiverse is the focus. I enjoy the first two and the whole MCU more and more on rewatching, so maybe they will pull off something spectacular that caps the first wholly successful Spidey trilogy and manage to keep Holland at home as well.

MrDandy - 10/23/2020, 1:51 PM
@parkerray - I’m betting Sinister Six will be saved for (appropriately) Spider-Man 6

I quickly skimmed the article and thought Lin-Manuel Miranda was shooting for this movie too. And now I want him as Ock
