Despite Doctor Octopus being the focal point of Spider-Man: No Way Home trailers, it's seemingy become clear in recent weeks that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin is the movie's lead villain. We've actually seen very little of what the Spider-Man baddie will be getting up to, though this new promo does tease what could be a deadly confrontation between Norman Osborn and Peter Parker.
No longer wearing a mask, the Goblin issues a dire warning to the web-slinger when he tells him that no good deed goes unpunished. Previous trailers and TV spots have indicated that Spider-Man clashes with Doctor Strange when he decides not to send these villains back to their respective worlds to die at the hands of their Spidey Variants, so perhaps that's what Norman is referring to?
We'll have to wait and see, but it's only fitting that the Green Goblin serves as Spider-Man: No Way Home's big bad considering his comic book history with the wall-crawler. Norman hating the MCU's Peter as much as the one who defeated him isn't hard to believe, though we can't help but wonder whether Spidey does something to earn the wrath of his maniacal Marvel Comics supervillain.
Take a look at the latest Spider-Man: No Way Home promo below:
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk," reads the new synopsis. "When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. Based on the new trailer, we can now add Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans to that impressive list of actors (fingers crossed for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
