Spider-Man 2 looks set to be a game-changer (no pun intended) for how the web-slinger is portrayed in video games, with players given the opportunity to unleash the Venom Symbiote while swinging into action as Peter Parker.
Like in the comic books, Peter will eventually lose the suit and Venom will follow. Tony Todd is going to lend his voice to the villain from that point on, though we still don't know for sure whether it's Harry Osborn, Eddie Brock, or someone else entirely decked out in the alien costume.
We'll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, our best look yet at Spider-Man's new black suit has been revealed courtesy of Hot Toys (via GameFragger.com).
"This solid black suit enhances Peter’s power with unique abilities," reads the official product description, "but at the same time, it has a clear physiological effect on Peter, altering his look, making him more aggressive, even against his friends like Miles."
The 1/6th scale figure comes with a newly crafted masked head, a specialized body, articulated pincers with black tendrils, an array of accessories including a black web shooter with newly designed black webbing accessories, web wings, a tentacle effect, matching interchangeable hands, and a display base.
Selected markets will also sell a Special Edition that's a) awesome and, b) confirms Peter is still wearing his classic red and blue suit beneath the alien costume.
The synopsis for the game reads, "Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise."
"Swing, jump and utilise the new Web Wings to travel across Marvel’s New York, quickly switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers, as the iconic villain Venom threatens to destroy their lives, their city and the ones they love."
Spider-Man 2 swings into stores on October 20.
