Venom Costume Test For Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 3

Hollywood costume and FX company, Frontline Design Inc., recently had the pleasure of designing Superman's suit for Man of Steel, but they also are known for their work on Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. Come see an unused design for Topher Grace's Venom.

Thanks to Marvel_Spider for coming across this cool image of an unused Venom costume, designed by the talented crew at Frontline Design. In 2004, Frontline Design collaborated with three-time Academy Award winning Costume Designer, James Acheson, on Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. They created Spider-Man's suit, prosthetics for Sandman and even a fully functional Venom animatronic puppet.
Thanks to the heads up from Marvel_Spider.
SPIDER-MAN 3 - Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) finally has the girl of his dreams, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), and New York City is in the throes of Spider-mania! But when a strange alien symbiote turns Spider-Man's suit black, his darkest demons come to light changing Spider-Man inside as well as out. Spider-Man is in for the fight of his life against a lethal mix of villains - the deadly Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace), and the New Goblin (James Franco) - as well as the enemy within himself.

Cast: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco
Director: Sam Raimi * Writers: Sam Raimi, Alvin Sargent & Ivan Raimi

Damn, VENOM could have been awesome in Spider-Man 3, the actor they picked too sucked.

Glad we getting a spin off still, even if its gonna be Webb (Ultimate) like.

Wow, that's terrible... I will say, the Venom visuals in SM3 were incredible. Easily the best part of the movie.

Venom in SP3 looked like a black Spiderman. He needed to be bulkier, taller, a lot more "sharp", and so on.

The first hour of SP3 is great, but it just went downhill from there.

@MrCBM56 Exactly. Apart from a few moments, Venom just looked like the black spider-man. He really needed to be bulkier.

Venom should've been the main antagonist in SM3 with a completely different actor. Either that or they should've just left him out completely, but no, we got this:

Topher Grace didn't necessarily suck. I blame the writing and direction. He played it the way they told him to. His whole "Dear God, please kill Peter Parker" and jealousy over Gwen was part of screenplay (which we can blame the Raimi's and Alvin Sargent for).

The music for the villians was horrible, emo peter and teenage venom killed it for me

i always wondered how does the spider change on venom? like the spider on venom is different then peters was when he wore the black suit, theres no explination as to why. besides, venom was just black carnage in that movie, he wasn't right at all

Spider-Man 3 was originally meant to be for Sandman as I've heard. Whatever was going to happen with Harry's Goblin would've been different for sure. I would've preferred seeing the Lizard and Sandman with a tease of Harry becoming the Hobgoblin near the end.

It was pretty sad seeing Harry die though...

I still like Tobey Maguire's Spider-man more than the new kid on the block, Andrew Garfield.

I actually like Topher in the role. If he could've bulked up it would've been immensely better, but he did a decent job. He pulled off the crazy quite well in the final fight.

Topher Grace I thought did good job in role even though he was little miscast my only problem was they killed him off. Topher Grace would made better spider-man I would have rather see him as spider-man than I do Andrew Garfield. I miss Tobey.

If they'd given him more muscles and beefed him up so he looked more monstrous I'd have been a lot more acceptant of their version of Venom. Sadly he needed more screen time and focus - and removing the mask so much brought the character down for me... oh well.. hopefully the new iteration of Venom will be an improvement.

Remember when everyone wanted the 4th film to be a Kraven's last Hunt based story. It was starting to look very promising until they decided to go the entire "Vulture and Vultress" route. I think Anne Hathaway was going to be Black Cat too.

"Malkovich would play The Vulture, an old man in a bird suit, and Hathaway would be Felicia Hardy, who is Black Cat in the comics, but changed to The Vultress in the movie."

Man, I'm glad they pushed for the reboot. However I'm all up for seeing Tobey's Spider-Man appearing in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise. It would be cool to see a different dimension based film.
