Just in case this is something the studio would rather keep as a surprise, beware of potential spoilers from this point on.
We recently learned that a fourth Spider-Man movie is officially in development, with Tom Holland set to reprise his role for another solo adventure - but could we see his take on Peter Parker before then?
On tonight's episode of The Hot Mic show, Jeff Sneider said he'd heard that Holland might be set to make an appearance in Sony Pictures' upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
However, he won't just be providing the voice for an animated version of his character!
Apparently, Holland will show up as the wall-crawler in live-action form when Miles Morales pays a visit to an alternate dimension, though Sneider assumes that we would see "an animated Miles in a live-action world."
He also believes that part of the reason the movie was delayed last year was to allow enough time for Holland to shoot his scenes.
This is just a rumor for now, but Sneider tends to be very reliable, so we'd say there's a pretty good chance Holland in Across the Spider-Verse will pan out.
Joaquim Dos Santos (Voltron: Legendary Defender; The Legend of Korra), Kemp Powers (Soul), and Justin K. Thompson will direct the animated sequel. Phil Lord and Chris Miller penned the script along with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Lord and Miller will also produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg.
Miles returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga for an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Part 1 recently moved from October 7, 2022 to June 2, 2023, while Part 2 won't swing into theaters until March 29, 2024.
