THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Was Given The Option To Kill Anyone (Including Harley Quinn)

The Suicide Squad remains on track for its August 2021 release, and following that big Empire Magazine cover reveal last week, writer and director James Gunn has shared some new details on Twitter.

While reshoots were built into the movie's schedule, the filmmaker has seemingly confirmed that those won't be taking place. The DC Comics adaptation is going to picture lock this week, and all that's left is for a few minor changes to be made for VFX shots. That's quite an achievement, but not a huge surprise when Warner Bros. is reportedly extremely happy with what Gunn has delivered.

Interestingly, Gunn has also confirmed that Warner Bros. gave him "carte blanche" to do whatever he wanted with the members of Task Force X, with no one off limits when it came to killing off these villains.

Even Harley Quinn wasn't safe by the sound of it, and the director hinted that even some fan-favourites from 2016's Suicide Squad were told that their characters wouldn't be making it to the end credits.
