THE SUICIDE SQUAD Green-Band Trailer Released In HD And It's Packed Full Of Hilarious New Footage

Yes, it's April Fool's Day, but we're not joking when we say that James Gunn just dropped an awesome new trailer for The Suicide Squad. This isn't R-Rated, but is packed full of must-see jokes and action!

Earlier today, the green-band trailer for The Suicide Squad leaked online after playing in front of Godzilla vs. Kong in U.S. theaters last night. Now, writer and director James Gunn has officially released this new sneak peek, and there's lots here for us to talk about.

There are some great shots of characters like Ratcatcher 2 and Polka-Dot Man using their powers, while we also get to see more of the other team of villains (made up of characters like Mongul, Captain Boomerang, and Weasel). What role they're set to play in the proceedings remains to be seen, but we have a feeling they're going to get taken out pretty quickly in the movie.

It's easy to see why John Cena is getting his own series based on what we see from Peacemaker here, and there are a few more glimpses of Starro in action against Task Force X.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
