SUPERGIRL Star Milly Alcock Reveals Why She Didn't Speak To Previous Supergirl Actors; New Promo Art Lands

Supergirl star Milly Alcock has revealed why she decided against reaching out to Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle. We also have new promo art featuring the Maid of Maid, Lobo, and Krem.

The new Supergirl trailer swooped online yesterday, and we now have some new promo posters and artwork for the upcoming DC Studios movie.

Despite largely spotlighting the Woman of Tomorrow, we also have clearer shots of Lobo and the movie's main villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills. The former looks like he's stepped straight off the page, but the latter has undergone a drastic redesign.

Usually, Matthias Schoenaerts looks a lot like Krem, so it will be interesting to eventually hear from Supergirl's creative team on why the decision was made to bring him more in line with one of Guardians of the Galaxy's Ravagers, for example.

Regardless, all signs point to Milly Alcock stealing the show as the movie's title character. Talking to Vanity Fair, the House of the Dragon alum said that, while contending with her expanding role in the DCU, she decided against reaching out to former Supergirl actors, Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle.

"They’re just people living their lives," she said. "It’s not like we have this blood bond."

That's a surprisingly blunt answer, but Benoist's time as the Maid of Might ended back in 2021. A chat with Calle, meanwhile, may have been pretty awkward; after all, The Flash star had been lined up to star in a Supergirl movie of her own before DC Studios was formed (pulling the plug on the project).

Benoist, however, had a slightly different take when she was asked about her successor last summer. "Yeah, of course I'll support! Once you've donned the glyph, you're part of a very small club of people that has worn capes. So it always feels special when any iteration of the story and the canon comes to life, so I will be there to support."

Calle has also expressed support for Alcock, stating, "Have so much fun. You look so badass, I love that. Just f***ing kill it."

Check out this newly released Supergirl promo art in the X posts below.

Supergirl, DC Studios' newest feature film to hit the big screen, arrives in theaters worldwide next summer from Warner Bros. Pictures, and stars Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El. Craig Gillespie directs the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.

When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice. Alcock stars alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa.

The film is executive produced by Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P. Winther. Behind the camera, Gillespie is joined by director of photography Rob Hardy, production designer Neil Lamont, editor Tatiana S. Riegel, costume designer Anna B. Sheppard, Visual Effects Supervisor Geoffrey Baumann, and composer Ramin Djawadi Junkie XL Claudia Sarne.

Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26, 2026.

I get what she’s saying but i think she should have worded it better.

@epc1122 - yeah , it can come across as rude even if it’s not the intention

I have seen her in interviews and it does seem like she’s not entirely comfortable with doing those yet.

@zedkate - it’s not that Ben affleck talk to previous Batman before taking mantle and Charlie cox talk to Ben affleck how you want her word it movie will speak for it self people will decide what they want to see prove that with Mario brothers movies

@epc1122 - Its probably her humor code, probably sounds way different if there were a clip. Seems like the same situation when Robert Pattison joked that he didn't work out for the Batman role....people took his statement literally and didn't understand that he often makes satirical remarks.

Its what happens when you don't hire Americans as leads anymore lol.

@TheVisionary25 - nothing to lose sleep over and still excited for the movie 👍

@zedkate - she probably doesn’t. I would probably say “I know they have busy lives and want a fresh take on the roll” or something different. Again, not a big deal but to me it did come across as rude.

@CyberNigerian - I don’t plan on judging her and she may be an awesome person in real life and you’re probably right about the fact that she’s an Aussie, but it did come off as rude. But also sometimes printed words don’t come off as good. Either way, still excited for this movie!!

Not interested in the movie, but I like that response. She’s won a fan.
Benoists whole “of the cloth” shtick is such pretentious BS.

@Sc00tersays - How? It's basically her being welcoming. Also, she's worked with previous Supergirl actresses, so they had to have traded stories & shared support to her. She's trying to extend that same courtesy.

@TDKRnry88 - I think Milly Alcock pretty much summed up my position. Not much more explanation needed.

I’d love to see Helen Slater’s reaction to the movie, as she watched it.

It’s a blunt answer (which seems to be her style which I’m sure some on here will love her for lol) but while it’s nice to just get some advice from the previous actors who have played the character , I can also understand just focusing on your own version which is fine too.

Anyway , Milly seems great as Kara and the movie looks good aswell imo!!.

Is he playing Kara in these interviews as a way to promote the movie?

1 thing she doesn't want is the same type of hate brie larson gets.

@JackDeth - hey, I get what Brie was saying. There's a lot of fragility coming from certain basement dwelling types. However, that isn't the type of hate you need when promoting a movie.

Just look at hate campaign Rachel zegler got.

Her response Kind of reminds me why I’m probably going to dislike the character of Starlord girl aka Supergirl in the DCU. Hopefully the movie itself is good enough to enjoy.
Melissa Benoist Was a pretty good supergirl.
RolandD
RolandD - 4/1/2026, 9:29 AM
@slickrickdesigns - I could be wrong, but calling her Stsrlord girl suggests that you were already prepared to dislike her as Supergirl.
slickrickdesigns
slickrickdesigns - 4/1/2026, 10:01 AM
@RolandD - that’s why I use the word “reminds” because she already comes off as a douchey character in Superman and in the first teaser she didn’t improve at all on personality. It’ll be a reflection of what gen z society finds acceptable behavior from strong independent disrespectful women.
Buuut, I’m still willing to give her and the movie a chance in hopes that it’s better than it looks to me. I’ll always give a CBM a chance to change my mind.

@slickrickdesigns - Very good sir. I work with kids who have suffered usually multiple traumas and over time, usually not a one time incident. Her attitude rings very true to me. It’s not the Supergirl that I grew up with but I am definitely willing to give it a try.

Superman is Star Lord in this film smfh...this movie will make $20 Million the opening weekend & will be RUSHED to streaming..Gunn shills will cope, make excuses or claim blockbuster win like they did with Gunns Superman😂🤣 While Spiderman looks amazing in the trailers & make Supergirl an afterthought. Gunn doesn't know the characters hes creating on film & has no respect for the lore the reason why his films look goofy. Gunn has did more harm to the brand than ANYONE..Peacemaker, creature commandos Superman and now this🙈
