Man of Steel is currently #1 in every location it has opened in across the world, and with an international gross of $71.6 million from 24 markets, it now has a worldwide cume of $196.7 million (that's just slightly under the predicted $200 million many expected). Iron Man 3 meanwhile - which is still quite safely the biggest movie of the year - has so far taken $803.8 million internationally. and with a domestic total nearing $400 million, the threequel has grossed over $1.203 billion to date. Star Trek Into Darkness recently crossed the $200 million mark in North America and has now done the same overseas with $201.7 million from 57 markets. That means it has far outgrossed the previous instalment, and while a sequel now seems extremely likely, only time will tell whether or not it will be J.J. Abrams once again in the director's chair. Finally, after flopping at home, After Earth has at least done a little better elsewhere. The international cume currently stands at $91.1 million - twice as much as its domestic cume - and $145.3 million worldwide. Oh, and if like me you're a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, you may be glad to learn that the sixth instalment of the franchise is now 2013's second highest grossing film with a worldwide total of $636.9 million.

"Fast and Furious 6 is now 2013's second highest grossing film"

Proof we've stopped evolving as a species.

Look, I liked Iron Man 3. It was a great conclusion to the Iron Man solo films but I think Man of Steel and Star Trek both deserve to make more money than it.

My only bug is the humor at unnecessary times. Other than that, it really weighed down the movie. The moments with the kid and The Mandarin twist never bothered me. The Mandarin twist worked cause of the story and he would never have been taken seriously with the alien tech rings. The scenes with Tony and Harley were to bring light to a rather dark situation and I thought they were rather fun and funny scenes.

I'm glad Man of Steel is getting success. Two cinematic universes for everybody!!! :)

I haven't seen Fast and Furious 6. Shit, I've only seen The Fast and The Furious, Fast Five and Tokyo Drift. Tokyo Drift sucked more dick than a prostitute and Fast Five was just great.

THOR deserves some of that Avenger-momentum money. It's the best MARVEL studios film for me and hopefully it continues to be good with this new director. Iron Man 3 has me scared to gauge things by the trailer. Hopefully that debacle was a one-off.

Tokyo Drift was on TV the other day and I realized the star played the little boy in SLING BLADE. Terrible film, as I suspect the entire Fast franchise to be. The only one I saw in a theater actually would have been better if it was called MIAMI VICE.

IM3 may of made money due to riding Avengers money tail but it was clearly the worst IM movie. It was cursed to be bad the moment they put the 3 at the end.

The 3rd movie always sucks, name one CBM (or any other franchise really) where the 3rd movie has been total garbage..........other then LOTR. :P

I don't get why people say one movie deserve to make money and another movie doesn't deserve it.

Avatar 2 will not make more than the first! The first movie was terrible and most people realize it and the success of the first was a once in a lifetime thing. Now every other movie has 3D so people have stopped caring.

And Rdjr is one of the major factor that contributed to the sucess of the avengers in the first place.

Fast and Furious 6 was no dumber than The Avengers, both are fun highly entertaining over the top films with cheesy one liners and dialouge at times. Popcorn and crowd pleasing films which appeal to the masses, both know what they are and play to their strengths which is why they were both highly enjoyable and successfull. In fact the more I think about it, fast 6 was really The Avengers with cars. That post credits ending scene with Statham was hot!. Justin Lin has saved the F&F frachise, made the correct call to move away from the outdated street racing concept, learnt it the hard way after Tokoyo Drift.

The only film that arguably deserves the first place more than IM3 is star Trek into darkness (ironically the one that will get less money from the four). F&F6 sucked and Man of Steel wasn't very good either (I actually consider both IM3 and MoS to be on a similar level).

I can't believe Fast and Furious keeps making all of that money. Just stop it already. Three franchises just boggle my mind on their success: F&F, Saw and Transformers. You have to literally shut off your brain to enjoy this stuff.

@didich....yeah they're both F-ING AWESOME!!! :P. The hate for Man of Steel is on par with all comic book reboots. There was hate for Batman Begins (and if you're reading this disagreeing then you wasn't here when everyone complained about Nolan not knowing how to film fight scenes), and the hate currently held for Amazing Spider-Man. Honestly the Franchises for all the perspective heroes before the Reboot got the story to the main points but with all the reboots they get into the REAL comic book feel and their style of stories. With all these reboots if you didn't like them then that comic book character is just not for you.

Actually I agree with you didich. In fact, I think MoS, Iron Man 3 and The Dark Knight Rises are all on the same level but just for different reasons.

i've only started liking F&F franchise from watching Fast5..haven't seen 6, but looking forward to it.

IM 3's..DARING. that's what i'd say bout it. for a CBM it's very daring, thus, makes it really FRESH.

MoS..got the potential of being one of if not THE greatest super hero movie of all time..but it just falls short of it. hopefully, we'll get the movie we deserve out of the big blue with the sequel.

Star Trek Into Darkness..i like it. one thing, i'm upset about is to learn by the end that (like MoS is of the first two Superman original movies) STID too is a REHASH of Star Trek: WRATH OF KHAN. i mean...where's the originality in that..??!! but at least, STID's a more fulfilling movie than MoS.

hey, Petey..even though i like Batman Begins (a clearly better movie than Man of Steel), i still think Nolan CANNOT film a good fight scene. case in point, Batman vs. Bane in TDKR..the WORST fight scenes evah..wanna see a good example of a GREAT fight scene..check out the bout between Vin Diesel and the Rock, in Fast 5.

and plus, with BB, at least, it coulda been justified that bats' way of fighting the thugs is so fast that you just can't see it clearly...but with Bane, that's a TOTALLY different matter and a great chance WASTED.

MOS was good but far from great. And it really missed the mark with the ending. I mean when Batman Begins ended with Gordon handing Batman that Joker Card and Batman saying I'll look into. Your mind practically exploded because you couldn't wait for the next one. Now granted they didn't even know if they would make a MOS 2 or Justice League. But they missed the mark by a mile with not even a tease of something to come. And sorry a Lexcorp truck getting blown up or a Wayne Enterprises satellite being destroyed doesn't count.

Peteyparker - 6/17/2013, 4:58 AM
@earone oh i dont think they were any true great fight scenes in the Nolan trilogy but when it first came out people were using it to try to justify the movie was terrible, which wasn't the case. Nolan's Batman weren't the best examples of Batman fights but as far as plots, scenes, and lines ripped from the pages of comics? They were spot on.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 6/17/2013, 5:03 AM
IM3 Is clearly terrible as we know.

Into Darkness is a great time at the movies. Pretty much neck in neck with the first one, tho Bana never really reaches standout villain status.

Man of Steel was epic.

@EarOne

The way Batman fights and how it was filmed in the nolan Batman films was one of my main gripes. My main issue was how everyone around him seemed to slow down or just stand still when he engaged them. The quick camera cuts ruined the Batman vs Ra's fight in Begins, I thought the Bane fight's were good, especially the first one, however the scene where Batman saves Blake and engages the mercenaries is atrocious, it looks ridiculous, this was not the movie for it. It also suffers from the slow down problem that I also mentioned.

If THOR is rockin, it will be a good year. Man of Steel, THOR and the HOBBIT. Wolverine literally has to sneak up on me and pants me for me to notice it.

@SupermansBeard lol That's a funny notion. Selecting a movie to watch based on money.

I love how some people here try to discredit IM3's success as just Avengers hype. Clearly a lot of people watched it and watched it again. If its just Avengers hype and the movie wasn't any good it would have fizzled in its 2nd week and it wouldn't even reach 1 Billion. But it did.
