While a casting sheet recently hinted that the actor had joined the cast of Man of Steel, Variety's Jeff Sneider has now confirmed that he will portray "General Swanwick" in the highly anticipated movie current set for release in the Winter of 2012. While this isn't a character from the comic books (not as far as I know anyway) it does further indicate that the military will have a sizeable presence in the movie, as previous reports and rumors have already indicated. Here is an excerpt from their report.

Veteran character actor Harry Lennix is the latest to enlist in Zack Snyder’s Superman pic "Man of Steel," Variety's Jeff Sneider exclusively reports. Lennix has closed a deal to play a high-ranking military officer named General Swanwick in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ tentpole, set for December 2012.
