Is This The Official Plot Premise For Superman: Man Of Steel?

Bleeding Cool reckon the odds are good that this short synopsis is the real deal, and an official hint at what to expect from the plot of Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot..

This is what The Baseline Studio System list as the official synopsis for Man Of Steel..

A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be.

Now I realize that this is a variation on a previous synopsis which was thought to be a fake, but Bleeding Cool vouch for this system's accuracy and have known them to be spot on in the past. According to Bleeding Cool's Brendon Connelly..

It looks to me like Warner Bros. registered some details of the film, most likely with casting services who fed it to Baseline, somehow, but have since decided to play coy. I’d be prepared to make a reasonable sized bet on the above being the film’s story.

I don’t think it’s locked, I just like the odds. A lot.

Mmmm. The West Africa thing has popped up countless times in everything from fake spoilers on IMDB, to fan guesses to APPARENTLY official leaks about the plot. It actually comes from the recent Superman comic: "Birthright" by Mark Waid. But could it actually have any bearing on the story? And if so how would Zod and the the other Krytonians fit into the story? For Connelly's full take on this click the link below.

The more like Birthright, the better!

They should definitely have the beginning of Birthright with him in Africa reporting a conflict. Because that scene shows him being an actual reporter, and the fact that superman can't save everyone. I hope this is true though

@manymade and AlexDeLarge they should use all 3 and others aswell. I don't see why they have to restrict it to those 3 takes but I would like certain aspects like the whole thing of him going round the globe being a free lance reporter, him being a bit more confident in his clark kent persona and his friendship with Lex Luthor brought to this movie.

I like this story line, kinda like Batman Begins to be honest. A ledgendary superhero tries to find himself by traveling the world, and comes back, and then becomes that hero.

the first issue of Birthright was published in 2003 two years before Batman Begins so no its not Superman Begins, and No its not Smallville because we won't have to wait 10 years to see him wear the costume.

Well this synopsis sounds the exact same as Birthright, which is widely regarded as a genius retelling of Superman's origin.

This is lame they always release some new plot details. They always change from week to week, [frick].

I am taking this SHIT with a grain of salt.

But IF birthright really is the inspiration awesome then. I read birthright YEARS ago and loved it. Was always my fav Supes book.

But again, they keep changing the "official plot" so I'll wait till Snyder says something...which will probably be never.

But if this actually IS based on Birthright then why the [frick] they put Zod in this movie?

He wasn't in Birthright.

Guys wait for something TRULY OFFICIAL before you start bashing it at least. Besides if it is true that doesn't mean it's going to be anything like Smallville. Chances are the traveling the world stuff might be a quick montage and they can easily use flashbacks for the origin stuff.

This doesn't mean that there won't be a lot action and great fight scenes nor does it mean that the movie will be boring and suck. The casting is not that bad either, Cavill looks the part he can fix his hair, 6'1 is tall enough and having seen some his films,
he looks a bit taller on screen. He's a decent actor, he can hide accent pretty well from what I've seen of him. So in the end he'll do fine.

Kevin Costner is wooden at times, but he's plays a father figure/mentor pretty well and fits a character like Jonathan. Diane Lane is a decent actress so what if she's a bit of a "MILF" I've seen photos of her that make her seem quite old and she can play the strong mother figure that Martha is in Clark's life. Amy Adams is the only one that I really find questionable, but that's more to do with her age than anything else. She attractive enough and looks young enough for Lois, she not even a real red head and can easily dye her hair brown or brunette. After seeing her in The Fighter I have confidence in her ability to do the role justice. Michael Shannon is a bad ass actor who's played some pretty dark characters, he'll be great as Zod and hopefully bring something cool and unique to the character.

Over all, it's too soon to say that this movie is going to suck or succeed, especially when you haven't even seen a trailer or anything.
