Blue Beetle's "Best Buddy" Maxwell Lord is Appearing on Smallville

KryptonSite has had confirmation that good old Maxwell Lord (from the Justice League comic books) will be in season nine of "Smallville," to find out what episode and more, click and find out inside.

In the comics published by DC, Maxwell Lord is a shrewd and powerful businessman who was very influential in the formation of the Justice League International. The DC comic was a humorous Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis title in the late 1980's.

At first, Maxwell Lord worked behind the scenes to establish the League, while under the control of a villainous computer created by Metron (a later retcon would say that this was actually the villainous computer program Kilg%re, which had taken over Metron's machine). The computer wanted Max to set up a worldwide peacekeeping organization, as part of its plan to dominate the world.

Lord in recent years had taken a more serious route and the climax was in the "Sacrifice" storyline a few years back that involved the fate of Ted Kord (Blue Beetle).

Maxwell Lord will be appearing in the 19th episode of "Smallville" titled "Charade" and it will be broadcast on CW in April.

Many thanks to the heads up from the guys at Kryptonsite, link below.

LEEE777 - I really enjoyed the Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis run of Justice League. Those Justice League International comic books were really good and some of the best stuff I have ever read. So this is great news. CW keeps bringing in the DC universe which is brilliant with me and as Max has ties to Checkmate, expect it to have something to do with that. Hey, hopefully one day we'll see a Justice League International movie in the works, like the third JLA movie or something.

Good stuff LEE!

Doubt I'll tune into this though - after being bored rigid with that recent Green Arrow episode and finding the "Justice" special to be pretty average, I'm giving up on Smallville!

I'm not sure if its the dodgy acting, bad CGI or boring stories really...and dont get me wrong, I would never hit a woman but every time Alison Mack comes onscreen with one of those annoying one liners I could actually punch her in the face.

I've only been watching the show for 3 years but after 9 seasons, I'm wiping my hands with it! :)

Absolute Justice was fantastic! What? No response! The haters must have slept in today.

But that would be great to have Booster Gold on the show. Did you guys like him when he appeared on the Justice League Unlimited?

I gotta' agree with peterparker420. I've been reading Booster Gold since issue #1 and its a monthly favorite. I never knew there were talks of a Blue & Gold tv show. That would be great! Even a full length animated feature would be nice.

Like it or not I have a feeling chloe may kill Maxwell Lord in "sacrafice" to save clark from killing oliver. Just as wonder woman was forced to do the same(to save batman and herself)in the comics. Leading clark to be upset with her for killing a man.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/13/2010, 1:51 PM
DOG @ Your a DOUBLE genius! : P

Batson @ How about CHLOE gets killed by MAXWELL LORD!

That'll get the millions watching!! ; P
Batson
Batson - 2/13/2010, 2:02 PM
I don't think chloe is going to be killed off at all.
Every death on the show has almost put clark over the edge. Clark wasn't very close to jimmy on the show and his death forced him to reject humanity. Chloe is clark's best friend and her death would either change him to someone who has no similarity to superman or have him moan in self pitty for 5-7 episodes.
jaysin420
jaysin420 - 2/13/2010, 2:21 PM
It's amazing how good this show has gotten, even in its prime they always had a few bad episodes but not one this season.

I don't think there's any chance that Chloe will be killed off this season, unless something crazy happens and the show isn't renewed. She's literally the only person left (other than Mrs Kent) that has been with Clark since the beginning.

I think her death (murdered by Lex would be perfect) will be what sends him off to finish his training and end the series.

Adam Brody for Blue Beetle actually isnt a bad idea. I think Brody would fit nicely with the rest of the cast. Good call!

The inclusion of this character into Smallville oughta turn some heads.
chasingtheflash
chasingtheflash - 2/13/2010, 6:42 PM
was it really suprising after the "absolute justice" movie/episodes. i have personally always enjoyed smallville. adam brody would fit nice on there. they do need to do something about the rediculous lines they give chloe sometimes. the one that sticks out to me from AJ is "that explains my tumble in the dumpster of doom" WTF!!
Batson
Batson - 2/13/2010, 6:43 PM
They should also bring the question to smallville as a recuring character for the next season. He would fit in perfectly into the smallville universe.
-He could work for the daily planet for a short period of time.
-He would be another hero with no powers.
-The worlds greatest detective may not be able to come on(batman), but the 2nd best would be cool.
-He comes from a city thats crime rate is much higher than metropolis, so his view on justice will be much diffrent then oliver's and Clark's.

@Batson- That would be a great addition to Smallville. I'm surprized I never thought of it before.
List of charaters the should be added: The Question, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and Black Lightning.
DEATH TO CHLOE!!!
