The Ausiello Files have an exclusive scoop about the tenth, and final, season of Smallville. And that is the fact that Elena Satine (who has become something of a fan favourite pick for Mary Jane in the upcoming Spider-Man 3D in recent months here on CBM) will play the wife of Aquaman later theis year. Here are some excerpts for the sites report:

"When the H20-based Justice Leaguer (as played by Alan Ritchson) returns to Smallville next month, he’ll be a married man. The lucky bride? Classic DC Comics undersea queen Mera!"

"Actress Elena Satine—whose credits include guest stints on Cold Case and Melrose Place 2.0—will play the role of Mera. The newlyweds will turn up in this season’s Tom Welling-helmed ninth episode."

The wife of Aquaman, and former Queen of Atlantis, Mera is from Xebel, a watery dimension inhabited by an exiled group of Atlanteans. She figured prominently in the Blackest Night story line, and has recently reunited with her husband in the pages of Brightest Day. What do you think about this casting choice? On a different note - if people don't like Christina Hendricks as Red Sonja, I could TOTALLY see Elena Satine as a younger version (I haven't seen anything she's done before, but ANYTHING is better than Rose 'McGannin'!)! What do you guys think?

It's funny how every hot chick "can't act worth shit" you are frickin morons...Elena Satine is a classically trained actress with a BA in Drama from the Julliard drama school AND a BAFTA nominee...she is brilliant actress! I have seen her play everything from a Russian school girl suffering a loss of her mother to a British countess with a chronic illness (which is the role she was nominated for alongside the great Dame Aileen Atkins)...do your [frick]in research before you make ignorant comments..IDIOT!!

haha, so acting is all about accents is it? I've never seen her act but Patriutism is entitled to his opinion without being called names! Also, just watching that scene, she sucked! Maybe she doesn't in other stuff, but your not winning an argument referencing that woeful looking movie.

actually there is nothing about her acting that "sucked" in that scene... though the movie is awful, there is nothing bad at alll about her acting. She is playing a dim witted reporter girl...the joke in the film is that she is dumb and slutty and the only reason she got the job to interview the director is cause she is fun to look at....pretty sure she brings that across VERY accurately.

I'd love to see Carey Mulligan or any other great actress do it any differently or better given the quality of the movie and the description of the character.

No kidding! That's unbelievable. I was reading yesterday that the stadium is so far out of the way and when you do get there, the stadium itself sucks, and the economy is bad in Florida that nobody comes out to games.

How so? She is doing her job. She is playing a character, and doing it accurately. I don't see how that's a reflection on her talent or lack there of? So... no one should ever play a character that's dumb or slutty? Many great actresses have...I'm not trying to be an asshole I just really don't see your point.

CLEARLY you didn't see the movie...it takes place in ROMANIA ....she plays a ROMANIAN reporter named ANCA....and she is doing a ROMANIAN accent and actually speaks some ROMANIAN in the film...which is no where NEAR Georgia...and sounds NOTHING like a Georgian accent....genius! But hey, way to prove how ignorant you really are.

Its nothing to do with her PLAYING the role dumb, or slutty, its has everything to do with the fact that she over acted and wasn't in the least bit convincing in the scene. Maybe I'm being harsh, but if you wan't to get into acting 101 then lets get into it! Like I said, maybe she is better in other things, I haven't seen her in anything before.

Oh I saw the movie.
She attempts to speak Romanian in the film.
Her accent she is using there is Georgian,which is one of the reasons shes an awful actress. If you don't believe me listen to the Georgian accent. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOnEh9uFjIw)


BTW Romania and Georgia are just across the Black Sea from each other. That is about as close as California is to Washington.

I will agree to disagree. Every reviewer shredded that POS movie and only praised HER and being the only good refreshing thing about it. Again her having a BA from one of the best drama schools in the world and being recognized by BAFTA with a nod makes her far more superior then most young actresses working today. Also keep in mind she is 22, she got out of acting school LAST YEAR...and has already accomplished a whole lot. For anyone to say she "sucks at acting" is simply inaccurate.


P.S. People think Meryl Streep over acts fyi...not comparing her to Meryl Streep of course but just saying...

Oh I love Elena! I wanted her to play MJ!!! By the way, I watch that film clip and whoever says she is not speaking with Romanian accent is 100% wrong. I am from Romania, born and raised and that is very authentic Romanian accent.
