SMALLVILLE Vet Kristin Kreuk Gives Her Seal of Approval To SUPERMAN & LOIS' Lana Lang Emmanuelle Chriqui

In a new interview, Smallville veteran Kristin Kreuk shared her thoughts on her soon-to-be small-screen successor Emmanuelle Chriqui. Plus, it sounds like she might be interested in a cameo!

For seven and a half seasons, Kristin Kreuk mesmerized audiences with her portrayal of Lana Lang on the hit DC superhero series, Smallville, as she went from Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) boyhood crush to one of his fiercest allies - although she did also throw a wrench in the works of the burgeoning relationship between Clark and his eventual wife Lois Lane (Erica Durance).

With Lana Lang soon set to return to our small screens in the upcoming Superman & Lois, this time played by Entourage alum Emmanuelle Chiriqui, TV Line recently caught up with Kreuk to get her thoughts on her character's return to television.

Kreuk sounded extremely excited to see Lana back in action after so many years on the sideline, describing her addition to the series as "great," and saying, "I don’t know a ton about the show, but it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. She’s a great character, and with the freedom that’s afforded creators right now in regards to comic book characters, I think they can adjust and adapt her into a more modern position in the world.

Unlike Smallville, the new Lana Lang-Cushing is a loan officer at Smallville Bank and will re-establish her friendship with Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) during one of the most difficult periods in her life, which is presumably a divorce as Erik Valdez (Graceland) has been tapped to play her husband Kyle Cushing.

She continues, “I imagine that Lana is a very different character in a different universe. I am excited to… hear about how the show portrays her. She’s an interesting character in the canon, so having her be in a predominant role on this new show is awesome.

As for her on-screen successor, Kreuk gave a very enthusiastic seal of approval to Chriqui, “She’s wonderful, and very nice. I’m sure she’ll be fine.”

With both Tom Welling and Erica Durance recently reprising their roles for a quick cameo in the five-part "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover, Kreuk seemed quite pleased to see the legend of Smallville live on nearly a decade after the show went off the air.

It’s so fun to have Smallville get incorporated into the current comic book shows. It feels like we’re in a continuum, which is really neat.

She also expressed some interest in maybe making a cameo down the line. "Yea, totally, depending on what it was. It’d be so much fun.”

This is going to be set in smallville, wonder if they will get the Smallville Kent Farm location back full time or if they will go somewhere else.

Wonder what Smallville alums they will get for this show.

Considering it took till Crisis to get Tom Welling and it was a small role, id say we shouldn't get our hopes up. Although if they get him, cast him as Jor El.

Michael Rosenbaum wants more than just a guest appearence, so get him to play a big bad at some point.

Get Callum Blue for something, he was a great Zod, really should have kept him around instead of bringing in Darkseid. would have made for a much better finale

@dracula - Sam Witwer. He was amazing as Agent Liberty and I'd love to him see back, including the ones you already mentioned.

@dracula - I think they have to go back there. We know they visit Kent farm from the leaked pilot script. And we also know from Elseworlds that the Smallville farm is the CW Earth Prime farm.

The only other possibility is that the appearance of the farm is changed by Crisis.

@Nightwing1015 - seems like the kent farm will be the main location of the show, so yeah hopefully the location is available

@dracula - Having Tom Welling as Jor-El would only work if you'd cast him as a young Jor-El. But personally i think that Clark through knowledge within the fortress probably already knows how his father looked like. And Clark didn't mention any close resembelance when he saw his doppelganger(s) in the crossover.

Also knowing Tom Welling you can completely write him off on ever returning. The scene in the crossover was specifically written for him to ensure he'll never have to come back as Clark Kent so i doubt he'll come back for another role.

Michael Rosenbaum is going to be tricky but I'd love to see him back and i personally have no objections to Callum Blue. He was definitely a good Zod.

@MisterRiviera - Yeah Tom Welling is unlikely, thats part pf why id say Jor El would be the best choice, consiering he wouldn't have to appear that much (unless they do mr.oz stuff). wouldn't really have to be an young Jor El, like yeah most live action jor els have been portrayed by older actors, but really look at animated stuff and older comics, he seemed pretty average age.

The likelyhood of him doing it are very slim, not sure why though, outside of Lucifer what has he done since Smallville.

Michael Rosenbaum is willing to do something, he just wants the right role. Personally would rather see him on The Flash as Red Death.

Personally would like to see Callum Blue play a hero

On the topic of (the characters of) Superman and Lois: I finally got around to watching Apokalips War. Aside from the cop-out ending, I really liked how they handled all the characters. Especially Clark, Lois, Wonder Woman, Damian and John Constantine

@MalseMarcel - Not a bad way to end that universe

@dracula - Bad universe though

@MalseMarcel - About 30 minutes into the movie I figured they about had to do that ending (even though I also read Rebirth).

@Himura @Dracula - I figured Cyborg or Batman had figured out some sort of reset. Having all these characters just disappear kinda undoes all their arcs imo

If that JJ Superman (sigh...) rumor is true, then we're gonna have Superman on the big & small screen at the same time.
dracula
dracula - 5/30/2020, 3:56 PM
@tmp3 - As long as they are both good, should be fine. Had Superman Returns at the same time as Smallville
tmp3
tmp3 - 5/30/2020, 3:59 PM
@dracula - Yeah, but it wasn't really two Supermen, since Welling was playing young Clark developing into Superman. Cavill and Hoechlin are just 5 years apart and will both be fully-fledged versions of the character, with costumes & all.
I don't expect a JJ Superman to be "good" though, which is why I hope the rumor is BS.

Ok, we keep getting these former actors to weigh in on someone else taking their role, but what to we expect her to say? "I absolutely hate that they took my role and i hope they burn in hell".

@Origame - Yes.
dracula
dracula - 5/30/2020, 4:03 PM
@Origame - Actually not all actors are that proffessional, never been a fan of either Charmed tv series, but the a few of the original actresses were open about their anger at a reboot
Himura
Himura - 5/30/2020, 4:14 PM
@dracula - TBF I'm sure Shannon Dorothy is salty about a lot of things haha
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 5/30/2020, 4:23 PM
@dracula - I don’t know anything about “Charmed”, but I do feel that there is a difference between an actor originating a character in an original work and someone playing a pre-existing role from some other media. I feel that in the first case the actor has more of a right to feel possessive of the role.
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 5/30/2020, 4:31 PM
@Origame - Well sometimes they can just be honest about it even if it's not polite. Like when Peter Davidson said he felt the Doctor should never be played by a woman.
dracula
dracula - 5/30/2020, 5:04 PM
@Chewtoy - dont know much about charmed either, but its pretty petty, Buffy is getting a revival/reboot and the cast is very supportive, only thing they ever said against a possible reboot is that Joss needs to be involved
MisterRiviera
MisterRiviera - 5/31/2020, 6:59 AM
@Himura - Actually she was pretty positive about the reboot. The same goes for Rose McGowan. Alyssa Milano was a bit in the middle about it because she felt that there was a missed opportunity to bring the 4 actresses back together for a reunion because they created that world first. She felt it was somewhat disrespectful that the original cast and crew wasn't asked for their input in creating the reboot. But she did hope the reboot would reach the new generation. The person who was most salty was Holly Marie Combs who played Piper. She didn't approve at all because the WB chose not to renew the show for a ninth season and felt that the CW is now capitalizing on their hard work.
