Additionally, in the NBC interview Cavill explained, "I love reading historical fiction and fantasy books, and if I got chosen to play those roles, I have such a connection with those characters that I have an in-depth knowledge of how they would be made into a real person. The opportunity is the same with Superman. It's absolutely fantastic because I've done all my reading and I'm really into the character.”

“I think you can either choose to accept, to focus on the pressure – and therefore, ultimately what you're focusing on is the celebrity aspect of achieving the role, as opposed to looking at the lore and reading the stories and having the opportunity to bring that to moving life,” he adds. “I'm avoiding the acknowledgement of the pressure because that'll kill me in the end. If you're holding the weight of the world up, you've just got to focus on the little speck on the floor in front of you and think of that, and don't think of the world on your shoulders.”

It should be a tremendous honor to play Superman. He is by far the most iconic superhero of all time. I hope Cavill puts 110% in this.

@grif.....its hard to say what stardom it will bring....every actor that HAS donned the cape and tights...moving forward has not been that successful. Chris Reeve well...had some other movies but none were SUPERMAN big then he fell off a horse and we know the rest of the story. Routh has been struggling after SR. well in short its the SUPERMAN CURSE. Lets just hope that while Cavill is involved with Superman that we get our fix.

@naterator he's got it yeah! Routh didn't have that, even though he had the height and the looks. Personality and acting skills are more important than the physical aspect of the character. Cavill's gonna do great

@Akercocke- Glad you finally decided to come around. ACTING CHOPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT "Naterator"

They are.

Routh has no acting chops PERIOD.

Glad that jackass is gone.

I got a feeling Man of Steel and Henry Cavill are gonna blow us away! He looks SO GOOD as Superman and take away the accent I can totally see that being Supe's voice. I'm sold, this is gonna be sweet...

@MrNoFear -- Let them use the Jim Lee suit. It's not bad, in my opinion, and I'm saying that as a fan of the character for more than 35 years. Just don't let them use the Grant Morrison jeans and t-shirt suit.

Ah geez...I'm starting to feel like all the other dudes here dammit...LOL. CAVILL STOP BEING SO DAMN NICE ALL THE TIME!!!! ;D

@MrEko- I know what you mean LOL

@TheDemonHunter- Agreed, the Jim Lee suit aint bad at all. It's basically the classic suit but slightly updated so as not to look too out of date like the brightly colored Reeve version.

@Akercocke- Good stuff friend ;D but you're right, acting chops are more important than looks. One may look like Superman but if he can't convince the audience...then all is lost.

I've noticed on other websites and forums that more and more of the routh-fans are starting to realize Routh sucks at acting. It's better they saved themselves now before it's too late.

lol @CherryBomb's picture of Lois Lane. She seriously doesn't have the look at all! She's not even attractive, nasty smile, big bags under her eyes and she looks old. Like I said before, half the film budget will be used for the CGI needed to make her look younger. lol smh

Gotta love Cavill! There's nothing about him that can make you hate him - well I guess him seeming so perfect can make anyone hate him, someone like Lex Luthor! Or Zod!! I took one look at him last year when I watched the Tudors and I always thought, wow, he would be the perfect Superman. No matter who gets chosen, he will always be my ideal Superman. Fast-forward 1 year later, after he was never mentioned in any rumor, Cavill was announced as our new Superman!

This movie is going to be great. The casting is perfect - except Amy Adams as Lois of course -_______- but other than that I can not wait for this!

Some pics of him in the suit would be nice WB,
