Superman Returns Christmas 2012

Superman Returns Christmas 2012

WB and DC seem to be bringing their JLA universe together, contrary to popular belief.

Warner Bros. and IMAX released a 20 picture agreement earlier today that included Batman 3 and Superman. However, neither of these movies had a release date attached.

IESB is reporting that according to their sources, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are shooting for a Christmas 2012 release with Superman.

And concerning this quote Christopher Nolan gave the Los Angeles Times in Feb...
"A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other."

Sources are telling IESB that there is a chronological order to these movies. Batman Begins being "Action Comics #1," meaning Nolan's Batman is the only superhero around when the movie takes place. The same can be said for The Dark Knight which is going by "Action Comics #2."

Martin Campbell's Green Lantern would be considered the 3rd instalment in the series. There is still talk of possible Gotham City and Batman references in the film. Even though Superman (in this time line) isn't around yet, Clark Kent does exist in Smallville Kansas.

Does this mean that the Superman movie would be a reboot or would it simply ignore the previous films?

So it would seem, if this is all true, that WB/DC is working to place these characters together for a JLA movie after all.

All I know is I hope they cast a masculine Superman who really nails the strength and stature of what Superman should be. No Cavill or Bomer!

Anil, please let go of Routh. Stalking is illegal in all 50 states. No sequel or remote attachment to Singerman Returns. Just reboot!

Give Brandon Routh a second chance! I know he can deliver the goods. His performance was not one of the bad things of Returns. Its the writers and directors fault. Routh as Ka El once more!

Routh can't act. He proves it over and over. He hasn't even acted in starring role in the last 5 years. Doesn't that tell you something?

i'm with phinehas. give it a rest. Routh was NOT that great. his facial expressions didn't show any emotion. AND he's skinny. he's not even close to looking like Supes.

...i'd still take him over Smallville-Man though.

Just in time for the end of days.

As it has been prophesied, the next Superman movie is the final sign of the apocalypse.

If I may springboard off of InterestingJohn is saying, how long after their realtime chronological introductions to their eventual team up in later JLA? Also, Detective Comics didn't actually own Supes at that point. Who's to say that Bats and Supes in Comic-time couldn't have shown up at the same time? So, there is plenty of room to mix and match introduction points.

Get off the Cavill bandwagon already! He is simply NOT Superman.

And although I am a Smallville fan, I agree with most that a fresh, unknown, face should take on the role. Therefore, they would have to find someone other than Tom Welling. Tom does have the build & height (unlike some of these smaller actors mentioned before), but the public equates him as Clarkt Kent from Smallville, not the Man of Steel.

I wouldn't even suggest anyone, I'm sure Nolan would make the right decision.

Christmas? I see Supes as a better summer film.

And yeah, I'm still sticking by Skarsgard :)

Actually, I could see Paul Telfer as Superman. Hadn't thought about him and I think it would be good for them to go with a somewhat unknown. He definitely has the physique and masculine nature to be Supes.

Skaarsgard? He doesn't even look remotely close to Superman.

And, even though he won't be cast again, I'm all for a Routhboot. I LOVED him as Supes... watch SR again (if you can stand it) and just watch him emmulate Christopher Reeve when he's Clark. The dorkiness, awkward carrying of his frame. I loved it.

And Supes drawn will never, ever look similar to Supes in real life. Just FYI.

"And Supes drawn will never, ever look similar to Supes in real life. Just FYI."

that is true, but they could AT LEAST get a big guy. Routh isn't bulky...at all.

@Anal Rickly. You my friend are an idiot. Not all people should have an opinion, that is why leaders are chosen and you have proven NOT worthy. Brandon Routh SUCKS ASS

I see no reason why Green Lantern and Superman cannot occupy the same universe. Both have sci fi, outer space elements that don't contradict each other. They bleed in very nicely. Flash isn't quite as outer-spacey, but would work alongside them just as well. Even as a Marvel fan, I think this would work well.

Still, a heavy no from me on Bale's Batman in the Justice League. Even if there arn't superheroes yet, once you start introducing them it all goes downhill. Let Nolan's Batman trilogy stand on its own, independent of everything else. Once that's done, get a new Batman and have him be in the Justice League. It's not the best solution, but I think its the only one that will maintain the integrity of BB and TDK.

@InterentingJohn. Are you serious? Marvel is freaking doing so right now. Make one movie of each character with a year tops in between and pffff You get your JLA or Avengers movie. It is really a no brainer c'mon. Who plays the characters is not AS important as it is to just doing the movies already for gods sake.

"Not all people should have an opinion, that is why leaders are chosen and you have proven NOT worthy."

What a stupid thing to say. So if someone doesn't choose you to be a leader then you dont deserve an opinion?? What is this, Nazi Germany? And what you said to InterestingJohn is just as asinine. Try talking to people, not being an internet toughguy and insulting people...or there's always the preferable choice of [frick]ing off.

@InterestingJohn. Youre asking how the can make it possible to join the "universes" on DC right? Well the answer is to just do so. Marvel is doing it, so they should follow. I am not "worried" about Nolans comments, and as you said, they will do whatever they want so yes, I can see Christian Bale in a JLA and also maybe someone new. I am open to anything but STALLING like they have for years and years.

InterestingJohn is not saying that they can't do it...he is trying to say to stay on topic and discuss how they can do it, which doesn't mean he doesn't think they can't do it. Seems to be some misunderstanding in communication here.

I find it kinda ironic that Batman established himself before Superman in the DCAU as well. I'm kinda with Nolan on this, kinda. It wouldn't make sense for Batman or Superman to know each other while the become the men they become. Aside from the OBVIOUS difference in choice of costume, the two had radically different views on Justice. I know I'm not saying anything most people don't already know. My point is, if either hero knew of the other I'm pretty sure it would have had a huge influence in their growth and development as a hero. However AFTER they establish themselves as heroes there's no reason why they can't co-exsist in the same world. Eh just my random two cents.

BTW no Routh. if they're gonna reboot it, let them reboot it. I highly doubt that Nolan would want to bring any remnant from previous films into this one, even if he's not directing it. He prefers his movie to stand-alone as a film and that's probably exactly what we're gonna get. I wonder if that means another Superman origin story. Not sure how I'd feel about that, but we'll find out soon enough what shape or form this new movie is going to take. Can't wait to hear more news on it.
