Warner Bros. and IMAX released a 20 picture agreement earlier today that included
Batman 3 and
Superman. However, neither of these movies had a release date attached.
IESB is reporting that according to their sources, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are shooting for a Christmas 2012 release with
Superman.
And concerning this quote Christopher Nolan gave the Los Angeles Times in Feb...
"A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other."
Sources are telling IESB that there is a chronological order to these movies.
Batman Begins being "Action Comics #1," meaning Nolan's Batman is the only superhero around when the movie takes place. The same can be said for
The Dark Knight which is going by "Action Comics #2."
Martin Campbell's
Green Lantern would be considered the 3rd instalment in the series. There is still talk of possible Gotham City and Batman references in the film. Even though Superman (in this time line) isn't around yet, Clark Kent does exist in Smallville Kansas.
Does this mean that the
Superman movie would be a reboot or would it simply ignore the previous films?
So it would seem, if this is all true, that WB/DC is working to place these characters together for a JLA movie after all.
