At a time when Americans need heroes the most, it wasn't you everyday superman who showed up to save the day--A Cop or Firefighter. No, it was none other than Superman himself. Former Superman Returns star Brandon Routh took time out of his schedule to help out his hometown with relief efforts. The 31 year old also gave his hometown of Norwalk, Iowa, help in another way. No, he didn't use his super-strength, super-speed or heat vision. The actor used his voice and 'star-power' to call out for help and asked people to come volunteer and help people in need.

"It's a neat thing. I think we need more things like this to bring our communities together," said Brandon Routh. "Not only when we have a disaster, a tornado or earthquake or something like that, should we come together. We can be doing this every weekend in communities," he said.

I'm wasn't a fan of Brandon's Superman in Returns, but this guy has time after time shown that he wants to be Superman, he has the character of Superman and he deserves another shot at him. While I am VERY happy with Henry Cavill as Superman, I say this as a Superman fan. I wouldn't mind seeing Brandon Routh as Superman in the upcoming Justice League movie if Henry Cavill can't be in it. One of my favorite things about Superman is that he always says that he's not really a hero because he's invulnerable and whenever he helps out it's effortless, it's the people who put their lives in danger and the people who go out of their way that are the true heroes. Brandon Routh is one of those people.
