Superman to the rescue!!!

Superman Returns to save his hometown! Which Superman is it? Besides the hint I just gave, hit the jump to find out...

At a time when Americans need heroes the most, it wasn't you everyday superman who showed up to save the day--A Cop or Firefighter. No, it was none other than Superman himself. Former Superman Returns star Brandon Routh took time out of his schedule to help out his hometown with relief efforts. The 31 year old also gave his hometown of Norwalk, Iowa, help in another way. No, he didn't use his super-strength, super-speed or heat vision. The actor used his voice and 'star-power' to call out for help and asked people to come volunteer and help people in need.

"It's a neat thing. I think we need more things like this to bring our communities together," said Brandon Routh. "Not only when we have a disaster, a tornado or earthquake or something like that, should we come together. We can be doing this every weekend in communities," he said.

I'm wasn't a fan of Brandon's Superman in Returns, but this guy has time after time shown that he wants to be Superman, he has the character of Superman and he deserves another shot at him. While I am VERY happy with Henry Cavill as Superman, I say this as a Superman fan. I wouldn't mind seeing Brandon Routh as Superman in the upcoming Justice League movie if Henry Cavill can't be in it. One of my favorite things about Superman is that he always says that he's not really a hero because he's invulnerable and whenever he helps out it's effortless, it's the people who put their lives in danger and the people who go out of their way that are the true heroes. Brandon Routh is one of those people.

This is great. this to me really shows why he was a decent Superman even though he got the wrong movie to play the character in

@Nephillim

honestly i don't think it was that the role was too big for him, it was just a terrible movie. there aren't many actors who could have turned Superman Returns into a great movie. it had less to do with Routh's portrayal of Superman than it did with Singer taking a shit on the story.

I look at Superman Returns as I do Superman 1, they both sucked, but they lead to/would have lead to good sequels.

Roth was an awesome Superman. But just like Ryan Reynolds, he was in a movie where people with bad ideas pull the strings.

Routh deserved to be option 1 of the next Superman movie, not option to of a hypothetical JLA, or a earth 2 superman. He is a class act and if the Super franchise doesn't want him, well then Mr. Routh will continue to be class act and a respectable actor of great talent.

RETURNS was a good movie, just not a good adaptation!

And liked ROUTH as SUPES, he looked for it, just not well-written character!

Great to see him doing such act, of course no prob to see him returning in anything, as long as they don't mess up with the continuity etc.

Well, in my opinion, routh was the corn in the turd that was Superman Returns. It's not like he hurt, or helped the flick. He's halfway tolerable in Chuck.

Umm someone suggested up there Michael Bay to direct?? Bay should just direct FX sequences not movies. When I saw the latest Transformers I found the action FX sequences fine they went on so long I got bored as strange as that sounds. I was almost hoping for another nerotic mom scene or his pathatic yet hot girl friend that probably got the job from Bays casting couch.

I suspect Megan Fox was right and Bay is a hitler kind of director.

Routh is meh at best. He needs some charisma classes.

Just because he's a nice guy doesn't mean he 'deserves' another shot. He doesn't. He's not Superman, period. He doesn't have the acting chops and that's the ONLY thing that counts. He doesn't even have any natural 'charisma' to make up for any shortcomings in his acting ability.

@Jolt17: It WASN'T a good movie, not just not a good Superman movie. The script was terrible, the pacing awful, the acting leaden and charmless, the lighting dull, the story a rehash and the plot is absolutely chock full of plot holes.

It had good cinematography and that was about its only good point. Looking 'shiny' does not a good film make.

I hate it when people use that line. It's a really badly made movie, period.

I don't understand all the hate for Routh, I'm not saying he's an oscar winning actor or anything but I thibk he did what he could with the script and direction he was giving. And let's face it he was essentially told just to be a Reeves clone and be super-nice which makes him come off as bland. But, if I'm being honest, the character of Superman IS Bland...sorry, but it's true. He's not very interesting.

Besides why is it, that you guys are STILL bitching about his role as Superman when he's trying to do something good for his community? Quit the fanboy bullshit for a second and applaud the guy for doing what he can.

@Keith I believe people may have their own opinion, of course!

; )

It's nearly a good movie if not thanks to the presence of the...um, what to say...SUPER-KID!?

Whatever he was, he messed things up seriously!

Things like these prove that not all celebrities are in it for the fame and fortune. People like Brandon Routh actually want to help others, something that, if he was real, Superman would definitely approve of. I've always supported Routh, and here, he proved that he doesn't even need to act to play Superman. He can just be himself, like Robert Downy Jr. as Iron Man or Tobey McGuire as Spider-Man. Superman Returns was not his fault. He was just told to play Reeve as Superman. No offense to Henry Cavill, but Routh just is Superman. Once Cavill is done, I'd like to see Routh get another shot. Even if he doesn't, he's a darn nice guy for doing all this. Go Superman!

Dylan Dog is actually watchable! I mean far from GOOD but probably not as bad as you might expect. Routh is also pretty good in it. I like his acting, I see why some might say he's a bit wooden but he convinces me enough.

He might as well, it's not like he's busy filming Man of Steel lol.

No, seriously, sounds like he is a good guy and I did not mind him in Returns, he certainly was not the reason that movie was an epic fail.
