In a recent interview on the Live With Regis & Kelly show, Tom Welling - who played Superman/Clark Kent in Smallville, which recently ended its run on TV - reveals which specific powers of Superman that he'd like to keep. He revealed that he'd like invincibility, but would prefer x-ray vision (this is where the conversation started getting out of hand). From TV Squad:

Regis Philbin asked Welling which of Superman's powers Welling would personally like to have. Invincibility would certainly merit consideration, he said, but it might not be the most fun.

"At the same time, I think X-ray vision could be fun," he said, putting his hand on Philbin's shoulder and looking at Kelly Ripa, "especially right now." Ripa said it might not be as much fun as Welling might think. "You'd be like, 'Sir, why are you sitting in Kelly's chair?" she joked.

Smallville is no longer running on television.

Honestly if Welling was at all interested in being a big star, he could have made it happen. I think he just wants to retire off the massive residuals he will get from the syndication and DVD sales for Smallville and his Hellcats money. I don't blame him, he will pretty much be like Adam West now for the rest of his life.

and someone needs to ask him or the producers,

Why did you teased your fans after 10 years, why cgi shots of him from afar.

thats the question to ask

I'm sure there will be a massive commentary if not a production diary talking about why they went with CGI and the T-Shirt suit. Honestly, I'm not that disappointed with what they did. I am a little disappointed with not giving Darkseid his own actor, but I can get over that.

I only watched Smallville from season 9 on, so I didn't have that big build up and that probably lessened the blow. There are just so many good photo manip's of Welling in the suit that I was more interested in watching him in the Black suit and bike jacket. I am also not much of a fan of the classic underwear Superman suit.

I bet he'd want the ability to stay all CGI all the time. Keeps him less busy.

He shoulda asked for Superman's ability to turn back time! Then he coulda flown around the Earth really fast until it spun backwards to the year 2000! Then when he landed back on Earth he could of saved his career and OUR Superman mythology by never going to the Smallville Audition!!! :P

btw- Does anyone else here know when we'll start getting some REAL 'Man of Steel' news?

It's been at least 2 weeks if not more since we last got a solid news report...and with Smallville over, they gotta start revealing more stuff to keep people interested.

@LP4

I thought I was the only one who wanted to know what's been going on with "Man of Steel". They're getting too secrative now. At least they could shoe Cavill with black hair or something.

@TheLight- Exactly dude!! I was seriously wondering what's going on with the film. I mean...they're being waaaaaaaaaay too secretive about it. They should at least have Lex casted by this point I'd like to think.
