UPDATE: Man Of Steel Pushed Back Until 2013; New Release Date Revealed!

In some genuinely unexpected and shocking news, it has been revealed that Warner Bros. have pushed back Zack Snyder's Man of Steel until 2013! You can find out the new release date here...

The following was revealed on Twitter just a few moments ago by the ever reliable source, Variety's Jeff Sneider. Stay tuned for more details as they come through. As I'm sure you'll agree, this is rather surprising news, although surely a good thing if it means the movie ends up having the time to be as good as possible.

BREAKING: WARNER BROS. has moved Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL to JUNE 14, 2013!

UPDATE: Thanks to The Playlist, we now have further confirmation of the news.

Something had to give, and right in the middle of Comic-Con no less! Warner Bros. has officially moved the Christopher Nolan-produced, Zack Snyder produced, Superman movie "Man of Steel" from December 2012 to June, 14, 2013. December 2012 is already stacked: Fox’s "Life Of Pi," Quentin Tarantino‘s "Django Unchained," Disney‘s "Lone Ranger" and perhaps more importantly, a competing WB film, Peter Jackson‘s "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

What do you guys make of this news? I'd say the above take on this move by Warner Bros. is pretty spot on, and this is undoubtedly great news for us comic book movie fans. 2012 is already a packed year, and Man of Steel now joins Iron Man 3 and THOR 2 in 2013!

STARRING:

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane as Martha Kent
Michael Shannon as Zod

Weren't they suppose to get the film out by 2012?

Oh well, I was really hoping to see this in the same year as Batman. Why pushed back so far? Don't they begin filming soon? Hmmm. Still, can't wait to see how this film turns out.

Hopefully this just means DC/WB smartened up enough to not let another "Green Lantern" happen.

Man that sux. Im really looking forward to this.
And the sooner the better.
Although on the bright side summer is a better time to release it rather then in the winter and now it dosent have to go up against all the other heavy hitters of 2012.

well If its too allow the movie to be good then I am all for it but I thought they had enough time but oh well I'd rather see complete visuals then some crappy one. and Aren't shooting in August would have thought that was enough time but like I said if its to ease pressure then I am all for it

love it.
slow down, do it right, lock up a busy summer weekend.

Superman is my #1 favorite character and I support this decision 100%.

and, of course, nobody at WB gives two craps if I support their decision.

WTF????

With all the time WB is taking with this film, it BETTER be good.

But I'm starting to think this film won't happen. This kind of thing always happens with films where they delay it, delay it and delay it until it finally just dies off.

Hopefully that isn't the case because I seem to remember they had to get a film out by 2013 at the LATEST...so they are pushing it.

This is some bulls#!t!! Put it out when you said you would. You got everyone hyped up to see the Superman they know and love and now you pull back... just like the Justice League movie. If this is for the DC reboot, SCREW THE REBOOT! Give us Superman! We're not even sure this will be the same guy. We want Kal-El/Clark Kent from Krypton/Smallville/Metropolis still trying to get with Lois and showing his full power beating down Darkseid and Zod at the same time.

I can't think of any other big movies being released in June 2013 so it probably doesn't have much competition but it didn't have that much competition in December either oh well lets hope its for the best.
