Will Superman "Man of Steel" finally break free of the "Mild Mannered" and bring more "Kick Ass"?

Come 2012, are we finally going to see what we want to see?

Will we see a Superman that is "Mild Mannered" as Clark Kent, yet a "Kick Ass Warrior" as Superman?

Superman's 1 and 2 were good, in their day, and delivered great characters with a Superman worth getting excited about. In their day, they were well worth the price of admission.
It is now 2011 and as technology grows, so does our expectations of what we want to see on the big screen.
We now know that developing the "Ultimate" Superman movie is possible and as Superman fans, we expected "Superman Returns" to deliver the goods. In my opinion, It didn't even come close. It should have been titled "Superboy vs Kaiser Soze"

Now we have Superman "Man of Steel"
I, like a lot of people, have been waiting for something magical to happen and now we have one more chance. Our faith lay in the hands of Christopher Nolan (Producer), Zach Snyder (Director), and now Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent)
I like the thought process that is taking place and, with the addition of Henry Cavill, we might be at the start of a "Kick Ass" movie.

Just seal the deal with a couple of interesting villains and my tail is wagging.
As for Lois? Maybe don't even have one.

IT IS TIME TO SHOW US A KICK ASS SUPERMAN, WITH EQUALLY KICK ASS VILLAINS!!!

"DOOMSDAY IS COMING" (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE)

I'd be okay with Lois, Lex, origin story telling having
a minor part in the flick if Zack chooses to make it
more more action oriented.
And please, no zod thank you.

Superman returns would of been good if he had a fight with something and lex had a better plot and there was no kid and a better lois lane,so long as they do something with those problems im going to love this film

It will be legendary, bringing some depth to Superman himself as a character and then blend a Superman movie with the capable hands of Nolan and action capability of Snyder and we have a classic in the making!!

I Don't think the casting for superman could have been better a great young actor with a solid career ...oh and have i said he's an ACTOR (Routh pay attention). The first time i saw Cavill was the Tudors and from that moment before the rumors, before WB getting its act together he was perfect!!

Bring on 2012!! Bring back Superman and bring the legend back in a fresh action filled (not kick ass lol) style!!

Please never put "Kick-Ass" and Superman in the same article unless referencing how any Superman movie (Even Quest For Peace) is millions of times better than that ultraviolent shock-value piece of shit.

"IT IS TIME TO SHOW US A KICK ASS SUPERMAN, WITH EQUALLY KICK ASS VILLAINS!!!"

It is time indeed, but is that all you care about?

Superman is so much more than just a big guy in a cape who fights powerful villains.

Try to understand that.

no havok...a great many people on this site do NOT understand that. Maybe thats why RETURNS was so poorly received. RETURNS was what it was supposed to be...his RETURN. Singers next installment would have been of EPIC proportions. HOwever i was super happy to hear that NOLAN would be helming this next installment if Singer wasnt. Just my own opinion.

Well...to be honest. I'm just happy they can finally lay the Reeve version of Superman to REST.

@Havok89- Perhaps you don't understand things yourself friend :) Superman Returns for instance was BORING. Superman layed not ONE punch the entire 2 1/2 hours. I mean, Superman Returns from what i read had one of the BIGGEST budgets for a CBM AND it was one of the longest...yet Superman never fought not once. That is pathetic. We fans understand that Superman is more than just fighting...but so far in the movies HE HAS NEVER FOUGHT. YES story is important but so is ACTION. Get a good mix of STORY and ACTION and we're all good. The last films have only been all story NO action.

That is where Bryan Singer failed miserably.

I said it before and I'll say it again- if Thor, Cap, Batman and Green Lantern are all allowed to FIGHT in their movies...why not Superman? What unwritten rule states that Superman must NEVER FIGHT ??

Well it is time they broke that 'unwritten rule' and FOR ONCE gave Superman a worthy opponent...a POWERFUL antagonist...

It is time we finally bear witness to Superman throwing a punch. The first punch he will have ever thrown will be in this film and I know that the minute he throws that punch, EVERYONE in the theater will give a standing ovation.

Story is important...but even WB admitted they messed up because the YOUNG, MALE audience DEMANDS at least a LITTLE action. Story + Action = SUCCESS

furthermore @Havok- If all you want is another BORING Superman film where Superman never even throws a punch, you may as well stick to your "Superman Returns"

It is time Superman fought someone. And I for one am excited.

Furthermore, by us saying we want action in this next film and that we want the film to be more "kick ass" we aren't trying to denote the STORY element. Of course "story" is very important. But so is action. They are both important. TO be fair- the last film- Superman Returns- was ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL STORY and NO action. That isn't fair. Gotta have an equal mix of both and for the record even the story for Superman Returns SUCKED ASS. Nothing redeeming about that damned film. SO i'm glad it got rebooted.

Remember- story + action= a really great Superman movie.

alllllll sory= boring and uninteresting Superman movie that will probably end up getting rebooted AGAIN.

I'm just happy they finally broke free of the "Reeve-syndrome" the syndrome that only Reeve- or people that look exactly like Reeve are allowed to portray Superman.

WB said it themselves that they chose Henry Cavill because he doesn't look too much like Reeve or Routh.

=) I'm a very happy fanboy. sorry routh-fans! LMAO loser routh is back to doing indies! Oh...and dylan B/I/T/C/H dog, lol

@NorseGod- Asking for Superman to go up against a powerful foe is asking too much of WB. After all they are total SCREW UPS. lol

Let's hope they don't f/u/c/k THIS film up at least. :D

@One2ephu- Were we biological twins separated at birth? I'm asking you that because what you just said is EVERYTHING I want in the new Superman film! :D sorry for the 'weird' remark by the way, LOL

We should definitely not have Doomsday in this it would just rush Superman's life and the movie (although very entertaining and possibly "kick-ass") will fail in the long run. They will have no where's else to go! My opinion is to have Lex Luthor (I know he's in every movie except for Superman III, which was pretty much about Richard Prior stealing money...anyways Luthor is essential), and somebody Bad-ass he can team up with (not unknown Nuclear Man). Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite, or even Amazo are some good villains. I don't think this will turn out to be a bullshit movie like Superman vs. Superman's Inner-self or about a black comedian that has nothing to do with the story what so ever. and if it is idk what to say... btw Lois Lane is also very important to the story. Superman without Lois Lane (kinda CRAZY sounding). Just because the last movie was really shitty doesn't mean turn the Character we've all loved since the days of diapers into a completely different person.

Lois was barely in Superman III... look how that turned out... take her out of the story completely? mistake!
