BONES Actress Brittany Ishibashi Will Play 'Karai' In TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2

Though this character actually appeared in the first movie played by Minae Noji, it seems the "daughter" of Shredder has been recast. According to Deadline, Brittany Ishibashi (Bones, Supernatural, Eagle Eye) will suit up as Karai in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel...

It looks like Karai will have a larger role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, as Deadline report that the character has been recast, with Brittany Ishibashi replacing Minae Noji. Karai's origins are never alluded to in the first movie, but there have been several variations of them over the years. In classic TMNT lore she's depicted as being either the daughter or granddaughter of Shredder, but in the new animated series for example, she's is actually Splinter's daughter, who's stolen and raised by Shredder to believe that the Turtles' sensei is the one responsible for the death of her mother.

Ishibashi most recently appeared in TV shows such as Grace And Frankie, Bones and Emily Owens, M.D., as well as features Everything Before Us and The Harvesting.

The actress joins Gary Anthony Williams, Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Laura Linney and Brian Tee in the sequel to last year's box office smash, which is currently shooting in New York. TMNT 2 (working title "Half-Shell") will be directed by David Green and produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form. The movie hits June 3rd, 2016.

GOOD! Karai has become one of my favorite characters over the years, and the version of her from TMNT 1 was horrid. It looks like they're getting back on track now that they've gotten passed the origin story.

Karai is the female leader of Shredder's henchmen in the first film. She is also the daughter of splinter in the comics. This film seems to be recasting aot of roles. First shredder and now karai. A different actress was karai in the first but it seems this second may be trying to add more story and comic lore...maybe recasting, in the minds of the studio, will make fans forget how bad and underdeveloped shredder and karai were in the first. Now they wanna be comic accurate. Or Michael Bay just wanted someone super hot haha

@ComicsBornAndBred Karai was never Splinter's daughter in the comics. In the original comics she has nothing to do with Splinter or Shredder. In the IDW comics she's Shredder's descendant.

@Dantk sorry i meant cartoon series, current one

"Leo tells Karai the truth that Splinter was her biological father, but she dismisses it as a lie. In "The Wrath of Tiger Claw", she begins to have doubts towards whether or not Shredder is telling the truth. She initially allows herself into the turtles' lair in order to lead Tiger Claw there, but when she found out that she really was Splinter's daughter, she began to regret her actions, and tries to make up for it by helping the Turtles fight Tiger Claw. But he manages to overpower them and he takes Karai back to Shredder who imprisons her now that she knows the truth."

Good. Karai was poorly written and horribly acted in the 2014 film. Worst comic book movie villain of 2014 in the worst comic book movie of 2014. And yes, I am a big Ninja Turtles fan who actually WAS excited for that movie.
