Jason Momoa Shares Concept Art From THE CROW And Weighs In On The Remake Being Scrapped

Yesterday afternoon, it was revealed that The Crow remake has lost director Corin Hardy and star Jason Momoa (Aquaman). Now, the actor has weighed in on the project once again coming to a halt...

Various studios have been trying to make The Crow happen for years but it appears as if the project is almost certainly cursed because it's stalled yet again. Differences between Sony Pictures and those financing the remake resulted in both Corin Hardy and Jason Momoa deciding to walk away and it's now pretty obvious that it won't be meeting the release date which was originally set for 2019.

Now, Momoa has taken to social media to weigh in on no longer getting to play this iconic comic book character and it seems as if he's resigned himself to the fact it won't be happening. Interestingly, it sounds like he's alluding to some troubles behind the scenes which may have stopped The Crow from reaching its full potential but on the plus side, he may still be open to returning to the role. One day!

"I’ve waited 8 years to play this dream role. I love you @corinhardy and @sonypictures
unfortunately I may have to wait 8 more. Not our team. But I swear I will. James O’Barr sorry to let you down I won’t on the next. This film needs to be set free. And to the fans. Sorry. I can’t play anything but what this film deserves and it needs love. I’m ready when it’s right. Love u Corin aloha"

What do you guys think of this concept art from The Crow? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Poor guy. If Aquaman bombs his career may be indeed over.

@SonOfAGif -

I actually thought Conan The Barbarian (2011) would have done him in.

Jason Momoa seems like a cool guy, though.
I just think he needs to stretch his acting chops a lot more than he does.

@SonOfAGif - He seems to well on the small screen.

@Humperdink - I think he should keep away from High Profile roles and focus on smaller projects. Because he isn't Dwayne Johnson or Morgan Freeman that can star in garbage and still get roles left and right.

He needs to hop on a Horror movie franchise. Something new that has a low budget but makes good money in return like The Conjuring and Insidious did.

If Universal did a Wolfman remake with a lower budget and focused on making it a horror film instead of an action film I think he would be ideal for the role.

Not upset that Momoa had to exit the role. I'd rather such a great film not have a sequel at all. No matter how good it could be.

He actually looks like a jacked up Brandon Lee.

I fear it may not be an IF it bombs, its been touched by the JLA blight, every one attached bar a certain lady has gone down the slippery slops and unless Patty Autin pulls out a cracker it may happen the WW as well. I wasn't a massive fan of it, I think more was made of it because of the pro female stance that was super high at the time. Its an OK film but I think the hype was over played, number two will be a tester if the film was the hit or the power to women stance at the time. Everyone is proving to be assholes these days, women and men..Lets see how this plays out but as for Jason..Hmm....

If they made a female version of the Punisher, that movie would be called...PEPPERMINT!

Great Day for Crow and Brandon Bruce Lee fans

Jason Momoa is the worst actor in Hollywood and only has one actual movie he made, Conan. Couple others but they're straight to video and SUCK

@DoubleD - totally disagree, he’s no Brando but he’s got a tonne of charisma and is always entertaining, and I think he’s a decent actor for action movies like this. He’s kinda like The Rock. Nobody is giving him hard hitting drama roles because that’s not where he shines, just like it wasn’t where Arnie shined, thiugh he could get by. But The Crow isn’t exactly going for Oscars is it. It’s a cheesy role that needs someone charismatic and entertaining if it’s gonna match Brandon Lee’s performance.

Braven was a great recent Momoa film. Also he was the only person who seemed to be awake in Justice League, except maybe the Flash kid but he was kinda irritating. Without Momoa in JL I would have fallen asleep in the second act instead of the third.

@connorblaze - I totally disagree. We don't need a ConanCrow

Braven was straight to video and it wasn't that good.

Jason Momoa sucked in JUstice League as Aqua-Beast. Man can't act.

Jason makes a great Big Foot

@DoubleD -

He's not the worst but he's definitely not great...or even good.
He needs to drop the long haired tough-guy "barbarian" roles and try something that challenges him to grow.

I think the Crow wouldn't really do that despite the characters painful journey because in the end he'd still end up being the glaring brute that beats everyone up.

@DoubleD - Here's some news for you. The Crow was and is not a movie that needs Oscar caliber talent to pull off. Furthermore, Bruce and Brandon Lee were hardly lights out as far as acting ability goes. They were incredible people and martial artists, but A-list actors they were not. Jason Momoa would've been fine.

connorblaze

Momoa would’ve been great. Otherwise I’d love to see Tom Hardy take it on. He can do the dark vengeful thing, and he’s incredibly funny when he wants to be, but in a badass way. Like the original Crow. If he could bring that energy he had in Bronson, he’d be great.

Also, sidenote, I’ve always found The Crow to be a really entertaining movie but since that joke in The Office where Jim asks Dwight his favourite movie and he says The Crow I’ve distrusted myself over whether I should like it 😂 nobody should share any interests with Dwight Schrute.

They should create a cursed shared universe with- The Crow, Spawn, Hellboy and might as well throw in Solo a Star Wars story too 😂
Actually in all seriousness the Crow, Spawn, Hellboy and some others disconnected characters, say Darkman may blend well together, they all have a similar darkness to them.

@ARMUS - I don't get the love for Darkman. And trust me, I LOOOOVE cheesy 80's movies, those straight to video fun that I'd sneak to watch late at night when my parents were asleep.
But I just could never get into Darkman. Each time I watched it I got bored, thought it was stupid
ARMUS
ARMUS - 6/1/2018, 11:16 AM
@Pathogen - I get that, I think I may like the characters look and its potential over the movie itself, Bonkers Lian Neeson was kinda fun too, I do see where you're coming from.
