Coming off of one of the most polarizing seasons of any television show in recent memory, Arrow looks to changes things up this year.

Here are some my thoughts on what we might be able to look forward to. SPOILERS FOR ARROW INCOMING IF YOU ARE WAITING TO WATCH ON NETFLIX OR BLU-RAY/DVD IN OCTOBER!

COAST CITY
I'm just going to get the most obvious thing out of the way first. We aren't going to see Hal Jordan. As someone who has read Green Lantern/Green Arrow and know how much Oliver and Hal are like brothers in the comics, this bums me out as much as anyone else. Even though Chris Pine is now playing Steve Trevor, this still isn't happening. As for what we could see, we could see McKenna Hall (Janina Gavinkar) come back seeing as she is still working with Berlanti Productions on "The Mysteries of Laura", and was last headed to Coast City. I also think there is a decent chance we could see an older Carol Ferris. I also think the flashbacks might show Oliver learning to fly from Michael Holt to tie into the present day story.

Curtis Holt - Mr Terrific
I am 100% certain that Curtis Holt (played by awesomely named Echo Kellum) is Michael Holt's son. It hasn't been said, but I'm pretty sure that in order to avoid complaints about changing the characters name and sexual orientation and do something original, they made him second generation. Curtis will be introduced in the first episode of season 4 and help Felicity bring Ray Palmer back from the Microverse. I think that Felicity will be holding back information about The Atom suit and when Holt finds out, he will use specs from it to make his Mr. Terrific technology.

I have a strong feeling that Alan Scott will be his boyfriend, based on Alan's character being changed recently and The Flash's focus on Earth 2 this year. I also think Alan will be retired and Curitis will know about his magic based Green Lantern character. That will inspire Curtis Holt to make something similar to Tony Stark's wireless Iron Man suit, his floating tech orbs. I'm not sure how these will look onscreen, but Berlanti & Co. are going to have to figure it out if they are going to introdcue Booster Gold and Skeets someday.

John Diggle/Hero Name Unknown
I'm not entirely sure what to make of Diggle this year. I know he is still angry with Oliver about kidnapping his wife and leaving his baby alone. I also know that he decided to become a hero to keep them safe. There have been a lot of theories about what comic hero Diggle might become this year, with Guardian and Vigilante being the most mentioned. I honestly would rather he just go by Soldier especially from the look of his costume, but we will see.

Thea Queen/Speedy/Red Arrow
From one of Stephen Amell's tweets, we know that Thea will be acting odd due to being ressurected by the waters of the Lazarus Pit. We also know from the finale, she prefers to go by the name Red Arrow. I think it will be Felicity who comes up with the Red and Green code system leading to Oliver going by Green Arrow. I think the ressurection sickness could lead to the possible appearance by a certain chain-smoking mage, but who knows. I also think Thea will clash with Nyssa and the League of Assassins over Malcolm being their leader and more of father to them than he is to her.

ARROW IMDB FARCE

Seriously don't believe anything that's posted on IMDB until episodes actually air. If Connor Hawke actually shows up on Arrow, which Marc Guggenheim has said won't happen, it won't be until season 5 or 6. Dick Grayson is also going to be a Bludhaven cop on TNT"s Blackbirds and probably hasn't come up with his Nightwing persona yet.
Seriously, anyone can edit IMDB, just wait for official announcements.

DAMIAN DARHK

Whatever form Damian Darhk takes on Arrow, he will end up being completely evil. He is the leader of the H.I.V.E. organization that hired Deadshot to kill Diggle's brother Andy and a probable pawn of Vandal Savage. In the comics, Darhk is more technology focused like Felicity, but on Arrow he is going very invested in magic and mysticism. Honesly, I think there is a better than likely chance that the Arrowverse version of Carter Hall works for him and when they get to Egypt on Arrow, he will turn on Darhk. I also think Darhk will be holding Ras (Matt Nable) prisoner after bringing him back to life. I'd be surprised if Oliver kills Darhk now that he is becoming Green Arrow, so he could probably appear on other shows as well. If TNT's Teen Titans show is connected, expect H.I.V.E. to be a part of it.

Ray Palmer/The Atom
The Atom shrank, The Atom shrank! Well, not until the Legends of Tomorrow trailer. The last Ray Palmer scene in Arrow season 3 really makes is look like Ray Palmer died and the Legends of Tomorrow trailer makes it look like Ray Palmer dies in that too. I really hope he doesn't though, and that when Arrow season 4 premieres they don't skimp on his small story in the Microverse. I know they can't afford to go all out, but here's hoping he has to avoid people stepping on him and maybe get sucked into a vacuum. Ray will be brought back to normal size by the mid-season finale thanks to Felicity and Curtis Holt.

Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
First off, no goatee ever on Arrow. I'm okay with that, it's the least interesting part of the comic Green Arrow's character. I don't see Oliver really wanting to be a hero again, so I see him being forced back into it. The season premiere is also called Green Arrow, so hopefully he gets his name by the end of the episode. I also don't see Oliver and Felicity staying together for the rest of the series, so someone is going to break them up. Based on the 18-49 demo ratings and the fact that Marc Guggenheim said that there will be a lot of Olicity sex this year, it probably won't be this season. I'm guessing that Oliver is also going to be trained to fly by Michael Holt, Carol Ferris, or Alan Scott in the flashbacks. I think it's even possible that Michael Holt might die leading to Oliver going back to the island. There's also a small chance that Oliver may run for mayor if the Danforth character ends up being a part of H.I.V.E. like Isabel Rochev worked for Slade in season 2.

John Constantine
As much as I want Constantine to appear on Arrow this season, I just don't think as of now that it will happen. It bums me out to say that, but the network politics are just ridiculous and will probably get in the way. It is going to be a situation of NBC wanting to get money for Constantine's Arrow appearance or not wanting him to appear because they view him as their product. If he does appear, it will likely be a part of the Egypt or Ressurection sickness stories. If he does appear and the ratings and response are good, he could even become a recurring character, even possibly appear on Flash.

My Final Thoughts
  • I'm guessing Malcolm will bring Sara back to make it up to Thea and control Nyssa.
  • Laurel and Sara likely won't meet until Legends of Tomorrow, and Captain Lance won't know until the end of the season.
  • If Arrow connects to TNT's Blackbirds, expects Dick Grayson and maybe Roy Harper to appear in the season finale.
  • Hawkman and Hawkgirl may get their own flashback episode.

All of these ideas may turn out to be completely wrong and just far off thoughts of an Arrow fan. The Arrowverse expanding opens up so many possibilities that are fun to think about.

Like I said in my Flash preview, I plan on writing one of these for Legends of Tomorrow in December. There is just not enough information on CW's Vixen or Agent Carter, Agents of Shield, iZombie, or Lucifer to write previews for. I may or may not write some for Gotham and Supergirl, jury's out right now.

THANK YOU FOR READING!

Ray Palmer may be brought back to normal size by the end of 4x02 as it was mentioned that in Curtis Holt's first appearance(which will be the second episode, "The Candidate"), he helps Felicity bring Ray back to normal size. But to contrast your theory of what happens in mid-season for S4, I think by mid-season, Curtis will have perfected the nanite technology for himself to further become Mr. Terrific, but also for Ray to fully embrace The Atom namesake.

I could definitely see Diggle becoming Arrow's own version of Guardian. I wouldn't be surprised if, while Black Canary and Speedy are chasing down some thugs, Diggle shows up in his costume and some thug says something to the like of "What are you? Their guardian or something?". Sort of like creating a name through a line of dialogue, much like how Roy got his Arsenal name.

And I too agree that Darhk will be holding the OG Ra's al Ghul captive. Imo, the third Ra's al Ghul fight seemed like it had a planned ending, as Ra's wanted to either die and pass on the mantle. It didn't feel as much of a surprise as the ending in "The Climb" as it was that Ra's was hoping Ollie would become the victor. That's probably why I also have no quarrels of how that fight ended the way it did.

Felicity thinking of the 'Green'/'Red' Arrow identities would be an awful idea, imo, and I hope it's more natural than that. I'd rather the media first use the term of The Green Arrow while Malcolm is in the background, gleefully smiling as he first mentioned the name back in S1.

Guggenheim has confirmed that Ollie will be in Coast City in the flashbacks.

“We pick up basically in real time. It’s been a number of months later since the last flashback. Oliver is in Coast City, as eagle-eyed viewers noted when he boarded the boat at the end of season 3. What happens there and how he comes to cross with Reiter, that we need to keep secret because it would spoil a pretty big twist in episode 401.”

He'll be back there before the flashbacks end, that's for certain.

It wouldn't take no time to grow that beard out. What the flashbacks show is that he grew stubble in the S1 flashbacks, and then alluded to him having shaved between the S1 and S2 flashbacks as the latter portion of the S1 flashbacks showed Shado cutting Ollie's hair, and with Ollie being in Hong Kong where he can shower and what not, I'm sure he shaved as well so the flashbacks so far really just wanted to show his hair growing out to that eventual moment where he looks exactly like that, so him not growing a beard out until truly necessary is fine by me. I'd say once we hit the beginning of S5, he'll start growing that beard.
