The Flash recently underwent another round of reshoots, with controversial lead star Ezra Miller returning for that additional photography. Whether new DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran had some input remains to be seen, but the expectation is that the troubled actor will not return to the DCU after this movie.
Regardless, there's still a lot of intrigue surrounding the Scarlet Speedster's first solo outing, especially as it includes Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle's DCU debut as Supergirl.
While we've already had a brief glimpse at The Flash, there's a lot of excitement for a proper trailer to be released.
Well, according to One Take News, we shouldn't expect a teaser to find its way online (and into theaters) until next year. That was later backed up by The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, who said the information was "accurate" and that he already knows which movie it will play in front of.
Looking ahead to next year, Warner Bros. only really has three options: Magic Mike's Last Dance (February 10), Creed III (March 3), and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (March 17). However, there's always a good chance it could be attached to another studio's release, with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania a very likely candidate.
Still, if we were putting money on it, the Shazam! sequel seems the safest bet. That's late to start promoting The Flash, though it may be for the best given the negativity surrounding Miller.
Fans have made it clear they no longer want them to play the Fastest Man Alive, and George MacKay is rumoured to be the frontrunner to take over the role. Whether that will happen in this movie or down the line is hard to say, though we do still expect The Flash to be an important next step for the new DCU.
The Flash is set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2023.
