THE LORD OF THE RINGS Director Peter Jackson Is Reportedly Considering Helming A DC Comics Movie

Peter Jackson is no stranger to epic ensembles after helming The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies but if a new report is to be believed, he may now make the leap to the DC Films Universe...

The One Ring has been a reliable source of information over the years and they've now revealed that Peter Jackson and his New Zealand production crew are currently mulling over whether or not to sign onto Amazon's hugely budgeted Lord of the Rings TV series. That makes perfect sense, especially as the filmmaker's involvement would generate a great deal of excitement from fans of the franchise.

However, the site also notes that Jackson is thinking about taking the helm of a DC Comics adaptation, something which would make perfect sense given his relationship with Warner Bros. and the fact he's yet to enter the epic world of comic books, a genre which has quickly overtaken fantasy movies.

Nothing is set in stone and there's no word on which project the director would be interested in taking charge of. Justice League would be pretty perfect but after the response to the first instalment, it's hard to imagine Warner Bros. wanting to return to that well just yet. After all, the studio has left Green Lantern on the shelf for the past seven years since the 2011 movie starring Ryan Reynolds bombed.

Which project do you think Jackson would be a good fit for? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Buckle up for six solid hours of people running away from CG monsters, doing impossible flips and coincidental serendipitous saves at 45 frames a second.

What's the story? Who cares?! Peter Jackson is just here for the chase scenes.

Yeah, after the Hobbit movies (2+3 are just the worst) this isn't something that particularly excites me...

@Kyos - I don't understand why people dislike desolation over the first one. Nothing against, it just confuses me.

@MrBillCipher - The first one had a lot of problems, but at least it didn't have Legolas, Tauriel, the "romance", Alfrid, etc. Plus it had 'Riddles in the Dark'.

Desolation had Cumberbatch's Smaug and Pace's Thranduil going for it (although they somewhat messed up Smaug's design), and Freeman was still good. But the absolutely ridiculous barrel escape scene alone made sure I'd dislike it.

I could probably talk for hours about what my troubles with the Hobbit trilogy (urgh) were, but... no. Let's just say that as a fan of Tolkien's books and Jackson's LOTR trilogy especially the last two Hobbit movies rank very highly among my worst theatrical experiences ever.

@Kyos - "Legolas, Tauriel, the "romance", Alfrid, etc"

To me, they were bigger problem in battle. I mean in battle you could just not mention the tauriel romance, and kill off alfred.

Fair enough points but uh one i don't understand

"although they somewhat messed up Smaug's design"

@MrBillCipher - I thought Smaug originally had 4 legs, but they said that the way Cumberbatch moved around, it looked better with his wings replacing the front 2 legs. Either way, I didn't have an issue with it.
