Actor Stellan Skarsgård Briefly Talks Thor

Obviously with word from some of the stars of Marvel's Thor, including Thor himself 'Chris Hemsworth', filming for the Norse adaption has finished, and moved to post-production involving feeling in the CGI, and basically bringing everything together for the big screen.

Now one of the film's quiet stars, whose role has yet to be revealed, Stellan Skarsgard speaks with Swedish site, EXTRA.

Mostly about his family, but manages to speak briefly on filming Thor, and confirming his finish as well. Note that this was translated to English, so everything posted might not be exactly what was said, but I'm sure it's pretty close.

When Extra hits him, he just returned from USA where he recorded the hit movie "Thor" in the desert of Santa Fe. "Cold as hell it was, but very fun. Kenneth Branagh (director, editor's note) is incredibly funny, you laugh as you cry during the shooting. And Natalie (Portman, ridden note) is so incredibly good. And smart. Too bad she is a vegan only." He includes:"I take the family on the recordings(filming) as often as possible."

DCMF: Skarsgard's role on the sometimes unreliable, IMDB, claims to be, Selvig. And with latest reports & with what Stellan had to say about Natalie Portman, his character must be on earth, opposite of the Asgardians.

Marvel has yet to officially confirm concluding filming for Thor, so like the process of Iron Man 2, there may be a couple of reshoots. But everything will end in time to see the Norse god on the big screen, May 6th 2011, 12 months from now.

BigBossZombie
BigBossZombie - 5/15/2010, 2:40 PM
@TANKGIRL her role is anything but small. shes playing thor's love interest. im sure she strongly affects thor while him being on earth.

I still think that he would have been a great Odin.

Sounds reasonable that his part is connected to Jane Foster.

@tankgirl Portman's too good for FoX-Men! Ellen Page was Shadowcat and they barely used her skills. Anna Paquinn was Rogue and they made her goth instead of southern. If they had Rogue like Sooki in True Blood, that would've been better.

Black Widow and Jane Foster :O

DCMarvel@ I think he is referring to Branagh being so funny that they laughed so hard they were also crying. That's how I interpret it, but perhaps there are some deep and sappy moments. :-)

tankgirl@ I think this is a much better casting decision by Natalie than playing Rogue or Shadowcat. Portman has the ability to pick and choose her parts carefully. Being one of a bunch of mutants in a movie was probably not as appealing to her as playing opposite of Thor, God of Thunder as his love interest in an epic movie. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

FOR ODIN. FOR ASGARD!

screw fox, glad portman passed. would have just been a waste of talent, fox is great at that. rogue is one a strong, independant female, not a crybaby who is afraid of a fight. fox blows goats! they ruined every x-men character, and the few they did get right, nightcrawler, they just toss to the side. i am a huge wolverine fan, but they even made him soft, and he is not the leader. what mutant did wolverine beat on his own when they fought. he even need help to defeat deathstrike. i hate fox! lol, sorry for my ramble.

also just a side note, am very excited about this, lol. my 2 year old niece refuses to play with her girls toys. instead she playing with the marvel toys i had when i was younger. her favorite? hulk smash! lol she says that every five seconds, lol even through a fit when we had to cut her hulk cake, no hurt hulk. sorry just very excited that my niece is already becoming a marvel zombie.

@DoughBoyMontez-You should definitely check out Marvel's all ages stuff. I read Power Pack and Pet Avengers to my 3 yr old daughter all the time. The current limited series of Power Pack has them teaming up with Thor. She likes to play like she's Katie Power. I'm about to expose her to DC with the Tiny Titans. and screw Fox indeed.
