These days, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are among the biggest stars on the planet, but that obviously wasn't always the case. Back in 2011, they were relative unknowns, and it was Thor that put them on the map in a big way.
Believe it or not, it's now been a decade since the movie was released, and Hemsworth has marked the anniversary on his Instagram account.
"This year marks the 10th anniversary of Thor when two unknown lads were given the keys to the kingdom," he recalls. "It’s been a hell of a ride and we clearly haven’t aged a day."
As well as a throwback photo of both actors during an early table read, Hemsworth shared a screenshot of a 2009 news article from Vulture. The headline reads, "Marvel Rolls Dice, Casts No-names for Thor," while the piece itself ridicules them as "virtual unknowns" and concludes by saying that Marvel Studios hopefully put the money they saved on casting into visual effects.
How wrong they were, eh?
Hemsworth is currently in the middle of shooting the fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, while Hiddleston will next be seen in his own Loki series on Disney+ early next month. It's pretty remarkable that they're both still playing these characters a decade on, with neither of them showing any signs of slowing down when it comes to their place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
