Clifton Collins Jr Confirms his "Thor" Meeting

The "Star Trek" actor confirms he has met with the "Thor" movie team..

Apparently Collins Jr. kicked off online speculation last week when he posted a series of updates on Twitter that seemed to indicate some involvement with Marvel’s live-action “Thor” movie.

But after a chat with MTV he has confirmed that something is indeed in the mix..

“I had a little meeting. I think I can say that much,” Collins told MTV News when asked if he auditioned for a “Thor” role. “['Thor' director] Kenneth Branagh is a bad-ass. I’ve been a fan of his as an actor and I know he’s gonna be amazing as a director for this piece.”

“Believe me, I’m itching to say all kinds of stuff,” he added.

He doesnt go into much detail, but hes certainly enthusiastic about the project..

“It’s going to be a beautiful thing, I’m sure,” said Collins. “It’s an amazing comic book. If you grew up reading these comic books, he was definitely a bad-ass, that guy.”

You might remember Collins from his small role in "Star Trek" as Neros right hand man. But he is best known for his excellent portrayal of killer Perry Smith in "Capote".

So any ideas who he might be playing if hes cast? I have one. And to be honest, im not too frakking happy!

ahhhh

Still pushing the Blake angle? I just don't see it. Not for him. If (not saying they should) but if they do go with a Blake story line to somehow punish Thor with mortality, shouldn't it be someone who is a bit older and more frail? If they have to use Blake, why not Branagh?
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/4/2009, 4:58 PM
Well, this guy just seems like the type of guy they would use for Blake. He is quite wiry and sort of gaunt looking, and could easily pull off the whole Dr bit. Plus he is an amazing actor, seriously, check out Capote. Also, i cant think of any other character in the Thor universe he could be..he certainly couldnt be an Asgardian!..could he?

ironknight27 - 6/4/2009, 4:58 PM
He could be... whats his name...Balder or Baldur...something to that nature. Someone please help me on this one but he is one of the Norse gods.

Sorry ROR I was thinking the same thing..Blake all the way. He is to small to be an Asgardian.

Ror,

I saw Capote, and thought he was great in it. I just can't imagine him as Blake. He seems to dark, I guess? I'm not sure if that's the right word. It's probably just my own ideas of Blake getting in the way. He seems more of a baddie to me than the Dr/Hero type. Maybe a Loki henchman? I'm still not conviced Blake will even play a part.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/4/2009, 5:14 PM
I hope your right Billyboy. He is a bit dark i guess...but if they are going to completely alter Thors appearance when he becomes Blake, he would be the way to go.

I really like Clifton and I've seen him in a few films. I think his best work is as a villain so I looked up who I think are Thor's main villains and decided which ones I think he might portray.

Wrecker
Leader of the Wrecking Crew, The Hood's Crime Syndicate, Former member of the Masters Of Evil IV

Dirk Garthwaite was originally a crowbar-wielding petty criminal. While fleeing from the police, he overpowered Loki, who had his Asgardian powers removed by Odin. While Garthwaite tried on Loki’s helmet, Kanrnilla Queen of the Norns mistook him for the Prince Of Lies and accidentally gave him super human powers with a spell that was intended for Loki.

Seth (of egyptian origins)
Seth seeks to end all life in the multiverse, believing that when this is achieved he will have dominion over all the varying dimensions.

Malekith The Accursed
Malekith the Accursed is the ruler of the Dark Elves, one of the Nine Worlds of Asgardian cosmology. The Dark Elves are also known as the Faerie of Celtic mythology and of Arthurian legend. The principal nexus between Earth and Svartalfheim lies beneath a palace (that is now in ruins) in the Cotswolds of Britain.

Cool! Nice work there dude. I had only heard of Wrecker,,thats a good possibility actually, cos he will need a foe on earth. Wasnt Absorbing Man part of the Wrecking Crew? Maybe Nolte will reprise the role, lol
Betty
Betty - 6/4/2009, 5:36 PM
He is part of the wrecking crew. Like you mentioned about his body type, I dont think he'd play one of the big bruisers because of his slight build and size. I could definitely see him playing a more cerebral character whose power is based on magic.

Since I've seen him play "Gang Leader" or member a few times, and Loki is cast, I'd go with Wrecker too. They're all kinda gangs though.

Oh, I was kidding about Blake earlier.

Ps. You know what bothers me? Blessed as Odin. Is that bad? He bothers me like the ghost of christmas present.
BillyBlack
BillyBlack - 6/4/2009, 5:37 PM
Hahahhahah

One could hope, Ror. And I believe you are right about absorbing man being in the crew. He had the wrecking ball and everything.

Aside from Blake, I can't imagine anything else that he COULD play (possibly Hogun or Balder?)... unless it was some kind of role that required prosthetics and/or makeup?
How about Surter, Ulik, or any other number of Asgardian baddies! ;-)
shibazz
shibazz - 6/4/2009, 6:13 PM
I am sorry to say this after all the work put into it... but Gawd i hate how lame Thors enemies are! A crowbar? a wrecking ball! Gimme some oil conglomerate types destroying his beloved earth and then he finds a connection to the destruction of earth to create a rift to weaken Asgard and the br4ing on some Ice Ginats!!! Stop Loki and Kick some Frosty Giant Butt! and put a Tycoon in bed with the Devil type down!

@LEEE777- I like where you are going with comiccon. I liked Adventures in babysitting and totally dug the fact that they had a the little girl as a Thor fan instead of more familiar characters like Spidey or Superman.

I love that movie. If only the technology was available in the 80's for this movie, Vincent D'Onofrio would be the only choice for Thor.

Watch the movie. Trust me.

I personally love the fact that it's a young Vincent D'Onofrio playing the mechanic/Thor.
Great movie, and Shue is HOT!
