For the newest issue of Empire magazine, Marvel's God of Thunder (and Loki) will finally grace the cover(s) in anticipation of Thor: The Dark World. While a batch of stills were released earlier this morning, one other photo has been uncovered in addition to quotes from director Alan Taylor and producer Craig Kyle. "You know, we are killing Asgardians in this movie," says Taylor inside the mag. "It turns out immortality isn't all that it was cracked up to be." Kyle explains that, "Asgard at the beginning of the first film was at a time of peace. Now our guys have been fighting for over a year, constantly. It's a time of war. When the Bifrost was broken at the end of the first film, Odin had to conjure a lot of dark energy and go through a lot of personal sacrifice to try and get his son back to Earth," Craig Kyle continued. "And it was a one-shot deal. If Thor didn't succeed, without the Tesseract he couldn't have got back again. And in our film, finally the Bifrost has been rebuilt, but during that time, when the cops were largely cut off from the rest of the universe, you had miscreants that came in from outside the Nine Realms, pillaging and destroying and causing havoc. So that's what our guys have been doing now - trying to put all these fires out across the Nine Realms." Check out a new still below, and stay tuned for more!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

I think this is going to be the best MCU movie to date. I'm crossing my fingers. Plus they need a lot of making up to do after the IM3 disappointment.

iron man 3 showed marvel studios is not invincible, but that does not mean every marvel film is gonna suck, remember fox with x men 3 and x men origins and then made x men first class which is loved by alot of people and ironman 3 also has a lot of people that really like it to love it too, so its mainly a polarizing film like man of steel was.

Alan Taylor and Shane Black are two very different type of directors. Black is known for his association with comedic action flicks.

@Ezio619

Haha Iron man 3 made 1.2 billion

LOL Stupid Marvel, you are not invincicble!!! How dare you make a well received, generally entertaining film that caters to all ages, that has humour and action. You're a Jenga tower, Marvel, getting ready to topple!! Mwahahaha

Oh.....wait, thats right - your comment makes no sense. My mistake

I'm just kidding, i know you aren't one of those people, but it hardly showed that Marvel isn't invincible. It only showed that CBM fans that care a certain amount about source material are never gonna be totally happy with any CBM ever. I pity these people

Doctorweird- yeah your right,these movies arent gonna be 100 percent true to source material because alot of the characters and concepts were created in the 60s or 70s so they need to update them and frankly some of the concepts like the Mandarin who was intended to be a stereotype that people could hate on in the sixties because he was a chinese communist are outdated, but they updated him in the movie , not as being true to his character but being true to the concept behind him and frankly killians plan behind the mandarin was actually pretty smart and they had to sell thor being able to live in a world filled with iron man and they did and now he is as popular as he has ever been but they had to change things from the source material to make it work because frankly, thor is kind of a silly concept, we can accept it because we love the characters and we can suspend disbelief and the hank pym thing is if hank pym ,who is a character that the general audience wont know about or care about, being introduced in the 2nd avengers film and creates ultron, the audience wont have a connection with him because they just met him and they wont really care, but if its tony stark , a character people are already connected to and care for, him creating ultron the generalaudience will be involved more because our care and connection for tony and we would want him to get out of it.
