Hawk Man Cast as Odin in Thor Movie?

Hawk Man Cast as Odin in Thor Movie?

Known for his loud form of sing-song "acting," the ultimate british blow-hard, Brian Blessed, is reportedly being looked at to play Thor's daddy. You probably know him best as the King of the Hawk men from Flash Gordon.

I understand that British actor Brian Blessed has been cast in Kenneth Branagh’s THOR movie, based on the Marvel Comics title, as the character Odin. He has appeared in a number of Kenneth Branagh productions, including HAMLET and AS YOU LIKE IT, famed for his booming voice.

I think myself and Rorschach01 can hold our heads high and say we told you so. Although we were both joking when we said it!

It will be good to see but I don't think this will happen because it's one of those "too obvious" choices.

He is old now but I've seen him recently and he still looks good for the part.

haha, hey Howlett04, we should joke about other cast pics that we actually want to see and see if they come true! How funny would Nathan Fillion be for GL huh?

If he reigns it in a bit he would make a good Odin. Well, ok, if he reigns it in a lot!

Honestly? You hear that renowned Shakespearean actor Brian Blessed, known for his roles in "I, Claudius" and "Henry VIII" "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves", and dozens of Shakespeare adaptations... plus a prominent role in Star Wars movie...

And you point out his role in Flash Gordon? Honestly, I cannot think of a more perfect Odin. He has gravitas, a booming voice, and a huge presence.

This is shaping up to be wonderful, with a respectable Mainstream/Shakepearean cast. I wonder if we will hear about Derek Jacobi or Patrick Stewart joining next? Maybe Emma Thompson?

Kev- Don't get mad cause you don't look as hot as her in a cowboy hat! And i'm guessing she changed her "pheonix" pic to this Hot Thang in a top and cowboy hat cause she enjoys the drooling. Or else she'd have this as an avatar instead:

Look at my titttttiiiieess uh-huh-huh-huh, oooooh uh-huh, Mmmmmmmmm uh-huh-huh-huh :P

Niiiice. I can live with that. This is the second good pick for this one, I think. This guy has a strong voice and a good beard. I barely remember Flash Gordon but I have a good feeling about this actor for Odin.

GUNSMITH- "ISNT HE HELLA OLD OLD NOW?"

Hell, that's what i had thought about Dick Van Dyke before i watched Night at the Museum! I went like "He's alive???". I'm sure he'll be stellar!!!
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 6/2/2009, 12:39 PM
Rorschach01 - Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern? That's crazy talk! That shit won't even work in a fan made trailer, if ever such a thing existed!

Have to say I didn't think he would work until seeing that! He would own that part!

Shaman - Dick Van Dyke defies the aging process! You didn't know he was still alive? Have you not seen Diagnosis Murder?! Even in his Mary Poppins days he was twice the age of the other dancers but they couldn't keep up with him! My god I'm freaking myself out! If I carry on with this I'll be wearing my waist band so high I'll need poloneck trousers!
InstigatorGIRL
InstigatorGIRL - 6/2/2009, 12:51 PM
Hey hey now. I didn't put that pic up because I enjoy the drooling I don't think I'm that attractive to be honest. Its just I wanted a pic that no one else had and someone had a pic of phoenix. I like being original XD
Anyways Yeah I agree Dick Van Dyke in Night of the Museum I thought is that guy STILL ALIVE?? Wow he's a fighter!

Come now instigatorgirl, we both know that posting an avatar of ones self in a cowboy hat can only be for one reason only and thats for maximum droolage!

I am tha Miz, and i am AWESOME

sorry, too much WWE...

Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern? Well that's blasphemy i say!!!

Howlett- Thanks for the pitch you did on InFamous! I replied :) Oooh, and no i haven't seen anything with him in it SINCE poppins LOL :P Imagine my shock!!!

InstigatorGIRL- PRAISE ORIGINALITY!!!! Can i get a AMEN?!?!?! Honestly, you can't say you "dislike" turning heads... right... right? .....wooot. As for Dick Van Dyke (damn that's a cool name, dick... dyke... in a van... stellar!!!) i wanna look that good when i get his age!!!

LEEE777- Rooney looks like he's dragging life support machines everywhere he goes... Actually made Dick look like a punk kid.

Logan-X- Nice Odin!!!

Roar- Welcome back to your cowboy hat! Mind if i borrow your face for a comic book character i'm creating? I mean, would you feel honored or would you bitch for the rights???
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/2/2009, 1:28 PM
Mmmmm. Could i feel honored AND bitch for the rights?? haha, nah dude be my guest, but if you become famous i at least want to be your man date to celeb parties and stuff!

Is the character by any chance a drunken, over opinionated, Irish layabout?
Shaman
Shaman - 6/2/2009, 1:43 PM
Roar- LOL Funny you should say that... :P He's actually the irish, drunken, fightin' comic relief guy :) Kinda like JOE in CRIMSON(best vampire comic book ever) only not native american and not a vampire. And yes, you gotta deal!!! If i ever make it big, i'll drag you to all the red carpets provided you keep your trade mark cowboy hat which you'll never be without in the comic :)) We'll be "mascots" in a way since both of us will be in it!!! Don't worry, it's not called "brokeback barfight".

Sirprize- I'd feel very violated... having done what i just did to her avatar!!!

Ror--You should be higher up on your, "I told you so" pedestal. Good call. I wasn't sure if that guy was alive. Everything I've seen him in he plays a jolly character. I hope he can be God of Gods-like without singing or projecting shakespear style.

Shaman--Gndmsboy. Hell yeah!
