While promoting Thor: The Dark World, 'Darcy' actress Kat Dennings sat down with Moviefone to discuss everything from her experience on the set of the of the hit film, to her future in the Marvel universe.

When asked about how she felt about returning to the franchise, Dennings responded "I'm always surprised whenever anything good happens to me... so yes. I was hoping but I didn't know. I didn't know I was in the sequel until right before I got the script. People kept asking me if I knew and I honestly didn't know. And then when I did know, I couldn't tell anybody. I had to keep it in. But I was super excited."

Dennings was then asked how she felt about being the primary source of comedic relief in the film.
"Oh yeah, especially having seen the finished movie, there's a lot of emotional darkness, and a lot of scary and amazing things happen. So Darcy is very needed and I think that lightness is really needed. It's really fun to be that and now, the second time around... The first time around I was like, well, I'll just do what I do and if I get cut? Hey! But now, that I didn't get cut, I'm back, so Darcy is important now. It wasn't pressure but I knew how important it was. So I really tried to do my best."

As far as her future in the Marvel Universe, Dennings was not definitive about where her role would go, but remained optomistic. "I mean, I secretly hope that Darcy is in all the other things. I don't know. I'm just grateful that I'm involved. I'm a fan of Marvel movies and it was an acting slash life goal to be in one. And now I've been in two. So I'm not about to start asking things. I'm very grateful to be where I am." She continued, this time being more specific about Darcy's role in the Thor franchise. "If Darcy does get brought back for future movies, I would love to see her brought to Asgard, because there is unlimited comedy potential. But Darcy has so much fun stuff to do in this movie and so much to say. I remember when I read the script, it's so epic but I would have bursts of hilarity with Darcy's lines. They really gave me fantastic dialogue." On whether she would be up for an appearance on Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. "Hey, whatever Marvel wants me to do. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's really cool."

Lastly, she was asked about Joss Whedon's involvement in the movie's production. "Actually, I don't know. He was around sometimes. Sometimes I would just see him in a raincoat just standing to the side and I'd think, Oh, that's Joss Whedon. But I didn't go up to him because I didn't know if he was busy and I'm just not good at that. One day I'll go up to him and say, 'Hey, I saw you in a raincoat one time.'"

I want her killed off. I honestly never liked her character. She wasn't even that funny, Thor and Loki were funnier and never felt out of place.

The only problem I had with her character was I didn't get to see her naughty pillows.

I didn't think her comedy was overkill in this movie. I think it would've been better if there were more scenes on Asgard but I really thought people were blowing her amount if screen time/jokes out of proportion

I hope she dies in Ragnarok. There's no way anyone can justify with her having more screen time than Odin, Frigga, Malekith, Sif, Heimdall, and the Warriors Three.

Darcy = Jar Jar Binks, and Malekith = Darth Maul
@Charlie2094
Yeah I agree her schtick was funny at the beginning of the movie, but once the story got moving, the constant cuts to "Team Intern" hijinks in London were very jarring and took me out of the movie. ESPECIALLY how they were SPECIFICALLY placed after very dramatic parts. And all of that screen time could have and SHOULD have been used for Malekith and the Dark Elves, and the other Asgardian supporting characters. Marvel really does not know how to balance drama and humor well. Once you have humor ruining the drama, its too much. They are trying to recreate what Joss Whedon did with the Avengers, and they need to realize its not working.

We need more of her sexy ass in the movies... Show her in someone else movie for more connections in the universe.

Rhodey should pop up in Cap 2. That would be cool. Either as himself or in IP suit.

There are only two reasons she should be in these movies, and comedy isn't one of 'em.

She's an awful character. She drags the whole series down. She shouldn't exist in these movies at all.

She doesn't dress remotely sexy at all in the movies, so her looks are no excuse for her existence. She just wears heavy coats the whole time. A girl being pretty doesn't justify her terrible character.

@charlie2094

I totally understand where other people are coming from, but I guess I kind of expected it because it's the general tone of the MCU. It wasn't just Darcy cracking jokes, there were a number of things about the final fight that were VERY lighthearted. Mjolnir not knowing where to go, Thor & Malekith sliding down buildings, portal mayhem.. there was a lot about the portal fight that was fun and more of a ride than a serious dramatic fight. It's because of this that I didn't feel like Darcy took anything away from the fight. Because it wasn't just her commenting making stupid jokes after every scene, there were a number of diff things that set the tone of the fight.
