Marvel isn't doing a great job at promoting this one. Hope we get the new trailer sometime this month.

And it also looks as though Marvel did a better Silver Samurai than FOX (guy in background looks like SS)...

Buying it

Eh, I got the Avengers one. And with the way they put pretty much every page up on the net, it's hard to justify the purchase anymore. I'll definitely flip through it if I see a copy in person though.

Obviously they can't really promote the movie to the general audience yet, like with TV Spots, but we haven't really got much news on the movie lately.

Look at the war Thor is allowing to happen, why isn't he trying to stop it.

thor the dark world won't make iron man 3 money,but i'm sure it'll make $500,000,000 plus.

marvel studios can afford certain movies to under perform slightly because they've had two movies that have grossed 2.7 billion.

@ManOfReal

I very seriously doubt that if they're any twists in Thor: The Dark World, they'll be like Iron Man 3. In any case, there has already been footage of Thor fighting Malekith shown last year and it looks huge and devastating for the people interested in that sort of thing.

@marcel

1.2+ billion actually.

@blackandyellow

Indeed, it has :)

I would say any subsequent avengers movie or any iron man solo that didn't do1.5 billion would be under performing but you can't expect catws or tdw or gotg to make a billion just because marvel puts a stamp on it the characters don't have that type of box office clout

This movie looks good and all but I just wish that Thor would wear his helmet more. He would just look way more badass with it on. Can't wait to see more of Malekith, though.

I'll be absolutely amazed if Thor and Captain America make over a billion apiece. In any case, I just got done reading Thor: The Dark World prelude comics, they set up the events for Thor: The Dark World very well.

1.2+ billion for Iron Man 3.

If The Dark World makes 600 million minimum, that's already a win for the studios. Anything more is just bonus.
I personally think it will end up at 750m.
I mean the first pulled in 450 worldwide with shitty marketing and very low character exposure prior. The second should increase drastically after the Avengers.

Its a weird deal that people think 500-600 million WW is a bust nowadays.

mdwilliamson24 - 7/11/2013, 11:42 AM
And also, why the hell would they be throwing promotional stuff around wildly these last couple of weeks when we got SDCC roughly a week away from now?
SDCC will pretty much launch the Dark World marketing campaign. And yes September is when it will really take off full bore.

Maybe it will make a billion. MoS was paraded around here as the one to break every record and make trillions but that didn't happen. Maybe now that a lot are saying it won't reach a billion it will, who knows?

You all underestimate the bandwagon jumpers after Avengers. The Loki crowd is nuts.

Ironman 3 numbers? Rubbish. It will make a modest improvement on its 2011 performance and thats it. People flocked to IM3 to see the most popular Avengers character played by an actor who was already heading up blockbuster Ironman films before the team up film.Downey was a superstar going in to The Avengers,I don't see Helmsworth (a rising star for sure) not at that level yet after The Avengers.

People were jonesing for more Ironman and will feel the same way for the next Avengers film,but is there really an audience out there to push Thor 2 or Winter Soldier to 700 million ww b.o.? Doubt it.
