Marvel Studios kept us waiting, but the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder didn't disappoint. Despite being less than 90 seconds long, it was packed full of surprises and reveals, all of which we'll be taking a closer look at a little later today. In the meantime, though, both Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi have shared their reactions to this first official look at the blockbuster.

While the filmmaker jokes that this is "the full-length finished movie," the God of Thunder himself promises "all the feels of a classic Thor adventure" and says, "You’ll laugh you’ll cry, then you’ll laugh so much you’ll cry some more!" Needless to say, we can't wait to see more from this one.

Another trailer is unlikely to be released before late May/early June, but we do have some very cool merchandise to keep us going. As you can also see below, Funko has released its full range of Pop figures, including a downright amazing "Movie Moment" with Thor riding his Goat Boat!

Look closely, and you'll notice that it's usually used for tours of the skies above New Asgard.

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Does the black fluid around Gorr have any significance? Or is it just for the Funko Pop I wonder.

Edit: Could the symbiote fall under legal ambiguity like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Age of Ultron? Or is it firmly exclusive to Sony?

I'll say this... as a not huge fan of Ragnarök (very entertaining, but not the thor film im looking for) this teaser gives me a little faith. it doesn't seem as goofy, and slapstick as Ragnarök does.
The problem with Thor 3 isn't the fact it has comedy, it's that the comedy is immature, takes away from the dramatic events/themes of the movie, and turns Thor into a completely different character.
After watching JoJo Rabbit and this teaser with the themes about finding one's self I have more reserved confidence for the film. Still scared about how they are going do Gorr.
It's still a teaser, and there's still the comedy that just doesn't suit my taste, but I have faith

@bobevanz - I absolutely love Taika and his works, but I happen to be in the "Ragnarok is whack" camp. I feel like it's Taika's weakest film and super duper over rated. The comedy just doesn't land for me majority of the time.

That being said, having just come off of finishing Our Flag Means Death, which I feel is a masterpiece first season of comedic art, I've already fallen in love with the tone of Love and Thunder. This may be the most Taika movie that's ever existed. I'm super pumped now for this outing.

But still, Ragnarok was hella tonally jarring and I feel is boring. I know this is a controversial take and probably heresy around here to say, but first noting I don't want to rewatch either, if pressed I'd likely agree to rewatching The Dark World before Ragnarok. At least TDW feels like it's a serious film which takes itself and it's lore seriously, where Ragnarok felt like 2 hours of that Thor One Shot which was a parody until Ragnarok made goofy Thor canon.

@bobevanz - Thor is boring. Sorry, but it is.
Taika made him interesting.
And not only because of the comedy, he completely reconstructed the character and made him interesting...and tragic.

@TheHumanSpider2 - The Russo Brothers made Thor tragic and interesting. Taika just turned Thor into Chris Hemsworth.
