Marvel Studios has released two new Thor: Love and Thunder clips, with the first revealing more about Gorr the God Butcher's sinister plans and a funny catchphrase for Jane Foster's Mighty Thor.

The second, meanwhile, is an extended version of a previously released sneak peek, but we now see the original God of Thunder's attempt to get Mjolnir to return to him. The hammer ignores its former owner, though Stormbreaker appears in a moment that's best described as "awkward" for Thor.

During a recent interview with Total Film, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked if he believes there's a chance Chris Hemsworth will stick around as the Odinson beyond the Thor: Ragnarok sequel. "I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot," he says. "And as we watch Chris continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character."

The actor himself weighed in by noting, "I love playing the character, I really do. It always comes down to: 'Is this script different to the last one? Are we repeating something?' And when it becomes too familiar, I think that's when I'd have to say, 'Yeah, no, this doesn't...I think I've...' I'd like to exit before people tell me to exit [Laughs]."

We're sure this won't be where the God of Thunder's story ends, but with Taika Waititi heading into a Galaxy Far, Far Away to direct a Star Wars movie, Hemsworth might get a well-deserved break.

Check out these new Thor: Love and Thunder clips below:

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
