Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theatres in most major territories over the next couple of days, and Marvel Studios is now hyping-up Taika Waititi's Ragnarok follow-up with a critics TV spot highlighting some of the praise that's been heaped on the movie since the review embargo lifted on Tuesday morning.
Social media reactions to the Odinson's latest solo adventure were very positive, but, as is so often the case, the reviews tell a slightly different story. The critical consensus is far from negative, but currently sitting at 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is one of the lower-rated Marvel Studios releases.
Regardless, a RT score shouldn't dissuade you from checking the movie out, as it's well worth seeing.
The teaser features quite a bit of new footage, mainly focusing on the movie's more comedic moments (of which there are many).
Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theaters July 8, 2022.
