COMICS: Marvel Unveils A New Look For The God Of Thunder Ahead Of THOR: RAGNAROK's Release
Jane Foster has been acting as The God of Thunder in the Odidson's absence, but Marvel is planning to reintroduce the original Thor very soon, and he's going to look significantly different. Check it out.
We haven't seen the original comic book Thor since 2014, but with Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok about to hammer into theaters, Marvel has plans to reintroduce the Odinson.
Those who read last week's Thor #700 will have been alerted to this, but the publisher (via THR) has now released some official artwork spotlighting the character's new look.
As you can see, much like his big screen counterpart Thor now has short hair and a beard, but he's also rocking a golden arm to replace the limb Malekith removed a few years back. The image above also features Jane Foster, Valkyrie, and Loki sporting the Infinity Gauntlet. Uh-oh!
THOR: RAGNAROK Review - Marvel's Latest Is A Blast From Start To Finish, But May Be Too Light-Hearted For Some
In the comics, the new Thor is revealed to be Jane Foster, so if the studio ever was to move forward with this, perhaps it'd be an opening for Natalie Portman to return to the franchise?
Thor writer Jason Aaron teases what's the come:
"Some of those stories will play out in the pages of Thor. Others will play out elsewhere, some across multiple titles. Between Thor No. 700 and [September's] Marvel Legacy No. 1, I'm really setting the stage for the biggest stories I'll be doing for Marvel in 2018. Probably the biggest stories I've ever done for Marvel, period. You see a lot of that set-up here, and I'm beyond excited for everybody to see where it's leading and what it means for Thor, not to mention the rest of the Marvel Universe."
