THOR: RAGNAROK: Hela Will Be A Combination Of The Classic Goddess Of Death And...Gorr The God Butcher?

Thor: Ragnarok finally brings Hela to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it's been revealed that a very unexpected source has been used to change her powers and that's the monstrous Gorr the God Butcher!

Cate Blanchett will suit up as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok but it's not just the comic book version of the Goddess of Death who's inspired this big screen take on the fan-favourite villain. During a recent interview on the set of the highly anticipated movie, executive producer Brad Winderbaum revealed that far newer creation Gorr the God Butcher has also played a key role in influencing this Hela.

"A lot of the design of Hela is a combination of the early Jack Kirby stuff but also...especially his power set, the villain Gorr, who has a very specific power set of being able to manifest an infinite number of weapons. We are doing a version of that, not exactly, but a version of that for Hela in our movie because in the books Hela can kind of touch people and they die and sometimes she can do all sorts of different things and we really tried to specify and narrow it into very specific skill sets."

What are those specific skills? Well, Gorr wields the All-Black Necrosword, a weapon which is capable of slaughtering Gods. It also manifests in a variety of forms and that's now a power Hela clearly has.

It's an interesting move but one which takes nothing away from Hela in the long run. What do you guys think of Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic's Gorr being incorporated in this way? Share your thoughts below.

That explains her ability to summon swords and things i guess.

Though i still want to know if she is going to be merged with 'Death', the one that Thanos lusts after. Would be great seeing her as a villain in Ragnarok only to survive and return in Infinity War in some form.

@Scarilian - Same, I'm also rooting for her in Death. Adds more stakes, one less character to introduced in this super stuffed film, I already like Hela. She's formidable. Adds more to her character now that she has connections to Thor. And makes Ragnarok an even more interesting film

I'm in love with Hela.
Malekith sucked ass, but Loki and now Hela?
Damn Thor has the best villains.

Will Hela be fulfilling the role of Death that Thanos is obsessed with? If so I'm alright with that change I don't think we need a Death character in the MCU
