Tom Hiddleston Says THOR: RAGNAROK Return As 'LOKI' May Be His “LAST Time Out Of The Gate”

After weighing in on Captain America: Civil War from Loki's perspective, the God of Mischief himself talks about returning for Thor: Ragnarok, and his close friend playing Doctor Strange.

While making the rounds for his new miniseries The Night Manager, Tom Hiddleston has talked a bit about returning as the God of Mischief Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, and where his future as the supervillain lies beyond the 2017 Marvel threequel. Furthermore, the British actor has also offered some thoughts on Cate Blanchett’s inclusion, as well as his friend Benedict Cumerbatch joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Doctor Strange this year. However, during his Happy Sad Confused podcast interview, Hiddleston first weighed in on Marvel’s first “Phase Three” movie, Captain America: Civil War, and what Loki would think.

“I really enjoy watching it progress in a way,” Tom Hiddleston said of the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I saw the trailer for Civil War, and I was like ‘Wow’…it has come to this.’ I feel like if Loki was in Civil War, he’d be sitting on the rooftops somewhere going, ‘How marvelous… the children are fighting.’ I’m excited to see it.” So, would the God of Mischief side with either Captain America or Iron Man? “He’s clearly on Team Loki,” the actor said in a separate interview with Yahoo. “They were all fairly unkind to him in The Avengers, so I’m not sure he’d be taking sides. [He’d think] ‘Ah! This is entertaining.”

Given Marvel’s follow-up “Phase Three” movie, Doctor Strange, will see his good friend Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role, Tom Hiddleston was then asked whether or not he had received a call from the Star Trek Into Darkness start before starting the project. “He called before he did Doctor Strange,” he said, then sharing advice he gave. “Of course, it has its own challenges which are mostly the sustained stamina of imagination because you’re constantly having to generate responses to things that aren’t physically there in environments which will be enhanced by visual effects. The job is to continue to make it real so the audience believes it when they see it. I think he’s having fun, and what a cast!”

About Thor: Ragnarok and potentially sharing scenes with Cate Blanchett, who is all but confirmed to play Hela, Goddess of Death, Hiddleston said, “That would be extraordinary.” He added, “I don’t know if she’s definitely doing it, but obviously she’s an extraordinary actress. If she’s up for coming to Asgard, that would be interesting. [Ragnarok] is coming around. I saw Chris Hemsworth in Australia. He lives about an hour away from where we were shooting Kong: Skull Island, and he was full of beans about Thor 3.In a separate interview with the Daily Beast, Tom Hiddleston had talked a bit more about his fourth (and final?) time playing Loki on the big-screen. Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” he explained. “I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.” So, does this mean the mischief-maker might not return when The Avengers take on Thanos in Infinity War? “I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know,” he replied. “They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

I'm glad we got a bit of a break from Loki after the Dark World....we had him once a year for three consecutive years. Should make his return all the more fun!

"They haven't got their ducks in a row yet. They're making it up as they go along" Don't believe that for one second.

@MiopTop - i do, plenty of stuff; especially from the early films clearly show that they make most of it up as they go along

He's the best thing about the Thor films. Would be sad to lose him after Thor 3. There's still plenty for him to do. Great character.

@SpideySupes94 -

Loki is always welcome back. We need more Marvel villains with presence. Hopefully, Baron Zemo can fill that hole.

Where's the headline: "BvS makes Hans Zimmer quit comic book movies!".

Jk, but that would be something that would be written here.

They have to keep Hiddleston on as Loki and at some point in the MCU have him cross paths with Cucumberpatch's Dr Strange! Potentially electric stuff.
