much better
his final design is so generic

@Superheromoviefan - These look like Soul Calibur characters... A little subtlety goes a long way

Movie version was better.

@Superheromoviefan - na he looked creepy as hell in the movie. If anything these designs are generic, looks too similar to Malekith

That first one is the most comic accurate. Pretty badass.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 7/29/2022, 7:38 AM
@Gmoney84 -
It really needs the altered nose to work, otherwise even with the head tails and everything else he looks too human. His skin is also too smooth, the lack of wrinkles make it look like he's suffered no hardships or anything.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/29/2022, 9:37 AM
@Gmoney84 - It's better and is MORE comic accurate. But still not totally accurate. The nose throws it all off.

It's like giving Voldemort a nose. It doesn't work.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/29/2022, 9:38 AM
@Scarilian - Exactly! No one would put a nose on Voldemort. It looks weird. Same thing here.

Comic accurate Necrosword too. Not a fan of the tattoo-like veins, but the tendrils were a must. No idea why they chose to forego such a trademark feature of the character.

Oh... yeah, that checks out.

@cyclopsprime - of course. But did we ever see his character butcher a God? No. Another inconsequential MCU villain.

@GeneralZod - I know it's not much but he did at least kill one in the opening
GeneralZod
GeneralZod - 7/29/2022, 11:16 AM
@cyclopsprime - That opening scene, he killed in self-defense, so he didn't murder/butcher anyone. Not that we saw.

Any moron who thinks that it is Voldemort simply because of a lack of nose, ignoring other aspects such as the head tails does not deserve to work on a movie. I wonder if that was Taika or Feige who said such stupid things. Either way, a better Gorr design would not have saved the movie from its reception.
Origame
Origame - 7/29/2022, 8:39 AM
@Scarilian - I legit think final design gorr looks more voldemort than this.
OrgasmicPotatoe
OrgasmicPotatoe - 7/29/2022, 9:24 AM
@Scarilian - It's crazy how much people make that comparison. As if "no nose" automatically equals Voldemort. I'm sure some memes would have been made comparing the two, but people still understand they're different characters.

But I guess, coming from the people who called a noseless Ebony Maw "Squidward", a character with a comically large nose, what can you expect...
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/29/2022, 9:41 AM
@OrgasmicPotatoe - It's just that Voldemort is the most recognizable noseless character. And he has pasty white skin like Gorr.

But if they had gone of these routes, and removed the nose, it would have gone a long way. Also, if the actual movie had been worth a shit then people would have been less likely to mock this by comparing it to Voldemort.

@OrgasmicPotatoe - nobody called Ebony Maw, Squidward but Tony Stark. Lol

I didn’t mind the final look. He was suitably creepy.
mastakilla39
mastakilla39 - 7/29/2022, 7:39 AM
Don't think the design matters as much as he's barely in the movie. I bet Bale didn't want 8 hours of makeup for a 2 - 5 minute appearance every now and then throughout the movie. Malekith actor hated the makeup/prosthetics but dealt with it becuz he thought he was getting alot of screen time, then Marvel cut out most of his scenes in Thor 2's final cut.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 7/29/2022, 8:03 AM
@mastakilla39 -
Same happened with Gorr to be fair, scenes of him actually killing Gods were cut and we know this because Taika confirmed so.

@mastakilla39 - he went in makeup surprised marvel didn’t use cgi crap make him look white
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 7/29/2022, 8:00 AM
Oh my God, Taika dude bro.... what the heck were you smoking to not go with these? Was one of Christian's stipulations for taking the gig that he didn't wanna spend too much time in makeup so they simplified his look, or something? Because these designs are delicious!
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 7/29/2022, 8:01 AM
Taika Waititi is one of the worst superhero movie directors, like, ever. That's no exaggeration. In terms of how unfit he is for the material and how little to no understanding he has of the characters he's working with, he's right up there with Schumacher. Actually... Nah, Schumacher at least wouldn't kill someone close to Batman in a comical way and then never have Batman acknowledge that the person(s) existed. So Schumacher is objectively better than him.

Thanks, Hemsworth, for bringing your friend onto this franchise and turning it into a bigger piece of waste than it was when Thor The Dark World came out.

SerKurtWagner - 7/29/2022, 11:34 AM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - It's so hilarious to see all this revisionism post-Love and Thunder as if Taika wasn't near-universally praised for what he did on Ragnarok.

suitekid - 7/29/2022, 8:07 AM
I thought the movie design looked good and none of these particularly strike me as any real improvement outside of being maybe more comic accurate. Either way I thought Bale killed it as Gorr. I wouldn’t have minded a few more scenes with him but he didn’t feel wasted and even his more kooky moments had a layer of creepiness to them.
RedFury
RedFury - 7/29/2022, 8:11 AM
That first look definitely could have worked. I think the head tentacles are kind of silly though. A mix of his final look and that concept art would have been great. Smooth bald head, with all the armor.
