The first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer is finally here, and it offers plenty of exciting clues about what's in store for the God of Thunder when he makes his long-awaited return to the MCU.
This 90-second sneak peek doesn't reveal much (unfortunately, there's no sign of Gorr the God Butcher), but we do see Thor pondering his future as a superhero and contemplating retirement following the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, a mighty replacement could be waiting in the wings, and we get a first look at them in the closing seconds of this electrifying teaser.
Elsewhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy also get plenty of screentime, while King Valkyrie...well, we're not too sure she's enjoying her newfound role in New Asgard. Arguably the coolest moment comes when we see a younger Thor wearing his comic accurate Jack Kirby costume!
The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an exciting ride, eh?
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
