Marvel Might Have Given Japan A Better Title For THOR: RAGNAROK

Thor: Ragnarok is a pretty metal title for a movie but Japan's unfamiliarity with the term "Ragnarok" means they're getting a different subtitle that some might call even more rock and roll!

Longtime Marvel Comics editor, writer and current Senior Vice President of Creative & Creator Development C.B. Cebulski has revealed a new Japanese poster for Thor: Ragnarok. The imagery is the same as the U.S. poser but the title of the film being released there is quite different.

As Japan is culturally unfamiliar with the term of "Ragnarok" Marvel Studios has elected to title the film, Mighty Thor: Battle Royale. That's definitely playing up the Planet Hulk aspect of the film and leads us to wonder just how much time will the Taika Waititi-directed pic spend in The Gradmaster's gladiator arena?

With trip's to Midgard, screentime for Loki, the destruction of Asgard and a possible trip to the Surtur-ruled realm of Muspelheim, Ragnarok certainly has a lot of ground to cover.  But that actually aligns with statements made by Kevin Feige during the press tour for Spider-Man: Homecoming, where he revealed that the third Thor film would lead directly into Avengers: Infinity War.
