Tom Hiddleston Says He Took Loki In A 'New Direction' For THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Briefly Discusses James Bond

Actor Tom Hiddleston was in attendance at the 2013 Jameson Empire Awards where he presented Helen Mirren with the Empire Legend Award. While walking the red carpet, Hiddleston naturally fielded a few questions about his next big Marvel Studios project Thor: The Dark World. Hiddleston was also one of a half-dozen of actors quizzed about one day stepping into Daniel Craig's James Bond wingtips.

Tom Hiddleston Loki Thor The Dark World

"It's an extraordinary thing...truly..as an actor, when a character you play gets taken to heart by the imagination of the viewing public. Every character I've ever played, I've built with the same conviction, commitment, research and hopefully attention to detail. But Loki is someone, as a character - to my surprise, people really enjoy him and they enjoy his complication and enjoy his arrogance and his vanity and his villainy. Because of the first two films, Thor and The Avengers, in Thor: The Dark World, I've been able to take Loki in new directions, building on that larger platform for him to stand on."

"I'm such a huge fan of James Bond...I'd like to hope that I could attempt to bring a sort of British charm [to the role of 007], " said Hiddleston on potentially assuming the mantle of James Bond. Of course, this was all a hypothetical discussion.

I'd actually prefer to see him as a Bond villain.

Its something about Hiddleston that allows him to play this insane yet charmingly homicidal character that everyone loves. I could see him or Cumberbatch as the next Bond villain.

If they remake Die Hard (lets be honest there going to do it eventually) he gets my vote to play Hans (I swear it has nothing to do with his spot on impression of Rickman, I swear it doesn't).

The dude is Loki for me he's been great so I can't wait to see what he does with Loki. And I agree with most of you the dude would be an awesome Bond villain but I think the dudes charm might overshadow Daniel Craig.

Oh please tell me that Wolverine poster is a fake

I don't why I pictured Loki wearing platform shoes in Thor:TDW after that comment ^^

earzmundo@ As I highly doubt he dies since his contract isn't up and Marvel wouldn't dare get rid of one of their most popular actors and characters in the MCU

@ earzmundo it's too early for him to die, I think that will happen in part 3. Loki will sacrifice himself to stop ragnarock (even though he will be the one to set it in motion)

Always a spot on performance with this guy. He's like Fassbender, just really talented and can suit so many roles with such commitment and believability!

Imagine a Bond reboot in about 7 years with Fassbender as Bond and Hiddleston as the master villain (Blofeld-type character) in at least a 3 movie arc.
