Having passed China's highest grossing movie of all-time (Avatar) after just a few days of release, Transformers: Age of Extinction's worldwide total has passed the $600 million mark. The fourth instalment in the franchise has earned $225 million in China, and has so far taken over $185 million domestically. That's nothing compared to its overseas numbers though as it taken $421.2 million (including China), thereby giving it that worldwide cume of $606.5 million since opening on June 27th. It's likely that the Michael Bay helmed movie will be 2014's first $1 billion hit. Directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer, Transformers: Age of Extinction and is out now! Have you seen it?

This film was nothing more than a popcorn flick.

And it's no surprise this pulled in so much film. After all, Michael Bay directed it.

We'll let's hold on a sec here before we declare Bay as the winner of 2014! lol

We still have...

-Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
-Hunger Games
-Hobbit

left to determine who will be the true winner of 2014!

But if we're talking about "Summer 2014" then yes, so far Bay had the title without a doubt. However I think DotPotA will surprise a lot of people. Just saying...

Well at least Transformers will hopefully not be the domestic winner! This one is hardly making money compared to the last 3 in the US.

@TheBlackNerd

The only films that have a chance to beat TF on your list is Hunger Games and The Hobbit. I doubt Dawn Planet of the Apes will make that much. Yes it will make much more than it's predecessor but won't outgross TF4 imo.

I actually favor long movies, however what slightly disappointed me with TF4 was how they didn't use that much time to give is just a little more characterization for the Dinobots. Their appearance was very grand but I just wish they went into depth about them a bit more. The opening of the film did give us an idea though for sure. Other than that I loved the new Autobots and the characterization that they had and I also loved seeing a particular familiar face return as well. They dialogue towards the end did feel a little rushed and cheesy but they're alien robots who cares if they say "When you look into the stars just know they are my soul." Or something like that...LOL still a pretty good film. 7.9/10 for me.

the movie was to long, my arse fell asleep and my knees hurt when I got up, although I went in with low expectation (VERY LOW) and I was suprised actually, the premise was much better than the last two, although I think they gave up on humans making there own robots to quickly as there was something interesting there, and I like that optimus was a little bit against humans in the beginning, I don't like the fact they needed something to bring megatron back which hints at a sequel, less childing shit like robots humping megan fox, could of done without the lovey dovey shit with the blonde chick and the irish lad but guess you gotta have that bollocks some where, first hour was really good, then you got to much human story as usuall then the last fight was your basic fights that you had in the last three films, the dinobots where good, apart from why they are there in the film in first place, but yeah alright pop corn flick

Wowza and to think it took Cap 2 and TASM2 quite a while to get to $700 million! Welp, only Dawn of the Planet of the Apes can save us now!

Hmmm, (twisting beard hairs) your claim puzzles me my good si'ar. lol But honestly I dunno man, I think it'll do around 800million+ if you ask me. It'll be out against no major competition (with the exception of TF4 multiple viewings) I think it'll hold up greatly until Guardians arrives.
