Director Michael Bay aught to be quite pleased with how well Transformers: Age of Extinction is performing in its opening weekend. Friday was especially good as it pulled in an estimated $41.3M Friday (which includes the $8.75 late nights). That puts the fourth film in the franchise on pace for $103M weekend, and if the numbers hold up would be the biggest opening of 2014 - beating Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95M). Now, come enjoy some sensational Transformers: Age of Extinction concept art that artist, Robert Simon, worked on. The images include alternate designs for Lockdown and ship, as well as designs for Bumblebee and Optimus Prime.

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION - The film begins after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history… while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.

TRANSFORMERS 4 will be directed by Michael Bay, from a script written by Ehren Kruger. The cast includes: Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammar, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci and Jack Reynor. Set for release on June 27th, 2014!

I hated Optimus Prime in this movie. He is supposed to be an idealistic, noble leader and instead Bay turned him into a violent, bloodthirsty, vengeful, unheroic tyrant.

Can we please get a director who actually cares about Transformers already?

I have to admit, I'm really easy to please when watching movies I'm interested in...I like long run-times for movies that interest me, but really, this one, I was looking at the time hoping for it to end...I enjoyed T1 and T3, was hoping to get something better, but far worse imo...hope the next one turns it around, the ending hinted that it could...

Hey, how are we still surprised by what Michael Bay is giving us? He's clearly making fun of himself at this point. We know what we're getting and we keep on paying him. I grew up watching G1 Transformers on t.v. every single day when I got home from school, and prayed every night for three decades that we'd get to see it in live action, and we have 4 movies now! Granted, they kind of suck, but we get to see Optimus Prime on the big screen. Plus, this time around he's riding on a massive fire breathing Grimlock! Sure we have to watch Mark Wahlberg delivering horribly written lines as a crappy character, but Optimus Prime gets to ride a massive fire breathing Grimlock!

Massive fire breathing Grimlock!

Massive fire breathing Grimlock!

Lockdown Design Was Terrible, If You Actually Knew The Character Beforehand You Would Say The Same. Actually This Whole Series Is Terrible, Thanks Michael Bay For Ruining The Franchise.

How Many Unnecessary Explosion Did They Need To Put In The Movie, I Mean We Get It You Love Explosions. I Wouldn't Be Surprised If He Spent The Whole Budget On Them.

@GUNSMITH

G.I. Joe would be a better fit than Transformers (which is at its best when it's slightly philosophical and in-the-sci-fi-weeds). Is there any 1980's nostalgia property that is primarily about sexy women blowing stuff up? Maybe he should take a stab at Charlie's Angels or even Masters of the Universe?

Frankly, I sort of want him to stay contained in the Transformers franchise, because I'm pretty sure he's set the mold for any of those movies going forward, anyway. Just look at JJ Abrams' Star Trek. Two bad movies that trample the spirit of the franchise, and now Abrams is gone, but the mold remains (giving the director's chair to guy that wrote the first two unbearably dumb scripts to begin with). If Bay did leave Transformers, we'd most likely get someone like McG to replace him, and that's not helping anything.

Quite literally the worst movie I have seen in theaters, possibly ever. A disjointed, chaotic mess whose attempts at drama fell flat as a board. A true disaster. Glad I only went to see a matinee for $6.50.

@ComicBookManBoy sadly he is riding a fire breathing "ancient warrior" Grimlok is never said by name. He never speaks and possesses no true back story. I am an old school transformers fan. My first movie ever in a theatre was Transformers: The Movie. Rodimus Prime, the REAL Galvatron, Unicron etc. This was just so frustrating to watch and at the same time, so terrible that I was laughing at the film.
