Ever since she starred in the first Transformers movie in 2007, fans have been campaigning for Megan Fox to join the Marvel or DC Universe. It hasn't happened yet, but the actress has now donned a superhero suit, of sorts, for a new commercial.
In the promo, Fox can be found promoting an erectile-dysfunction product, Ro Sparks, portraying herself as the human embodiment of erectile dysfunction. The idea behind the advert is to remove some of the stigma surrounding it and to get people to talk about the condition.
Like other recent commercials with Fox front and centre, it's all very tongue-in-cheek and takes full advantage of the actress and model's newfound status as a sex symbol.
Talking to Variety, Saman Rahmanian, co-founder and chief product officer at Ro, said, "Megan Fox has the ability to take the topic of ED out of a commercial and into the zeitgeist, into the shows, into the feed, where people are already talking about sex. That’s where the stigma lives and that’s where it has to be challenged."
"When we presented the idea to her, she didn’t just love the creative. She was excited about what it could do for couples," the executive said of Fox. "ED affects not just the guy, but the couple. It affects intimacy. It affects confidence. And Meghan Fox was all about, you know, helping couples have better sex."
Rahmanian added that it was "very intentional" to have a woman promoting an ED product, explaining, "Men really lean in when this topic is brought up from the woman’s perspective. It’s because ED is something that is about the couple. It is something that affects both. We have seen that partners who are often women are the ones that make this topic more discussable."
As noted, Fox, who has repeatedly shared her comic book fandom, has yet to join the Marvel or DC Universes. With DC Studios fleshing out the latter, there are plenty of exciting possibilities, and her name has frequently been linked to characters like Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
As for Transformers, Bay is reportedly planning to return to the franchise, so who's to say he won't look to reunite with Fox? No stranger to genre fare, the actress later played the live-action April O'Neil in Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
Fox also counts the likes of Jennifer's Body, Jonah Hex, and New Girl among her credits, and in more recent years, has starred in underrated gems like Till Death and Subservience. You can check out this commercial in the player below.
