Michael Bay Confirms That TRANSFORMERS 4 Will Be His Last

Confirming earlier reports that director Michael Bay will walk away from the Transformers franchise following the fourth instalment, we now have an update which reveals that the next film will not only be his last, but will leave the door open for someone else to take over.

In a feature on the new Universal Studios ride, "Transformers: The Ride - 3D", Hero Complex have offered up an update on the fourth instalment in Michael Bay's explosive franchise. Apart from the mention of some redesigned robots, this may give us an idea of the direction the movie will go in. However, with reports that none of the original cast members will return, who knows where the director will take things with the sequel, especially if his plan is to set things up, "for the next guy."

The director, by the way, says that the fourth film will include some redesign of the robots and an entirely new cast. He also said it will be his last and set the franchise up "for the next guy.")

It's worth remembering that this is pretty much exactly what Bay said said after the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and just look how that turned out. Bay has indicated that it will serve as a reboot of sorts, but if Paramount offer him enough, it seems likely that he will indeed choose to return. Only time will tell. The currently untitled fourth instalment is tentatively scheduled for a 2014 release.
