POLL: What Did You Think Of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon?

POLL: What Did You Think Of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon?

Another big divider here on CBM. Slated by critics, loved by fans who have made it the highest grossing movie in existence or something. But what did you REALLY think of Michael Bay's threequel?

Feature Opinion

Just like Green Lantern we find ourselves split pretty much down the middle when it comes to Michael Bay's latest. Some felt that it was terrible aside from the action which does not a complete movie make, some felt that to expect anything more from a movie like this was unrealistic. You know what I thought, and if you didn't catch it check out my review Here. But after letting the explosions and the ass shots sink in for a few days, how did you guys really feel about Transformers: DOTM?

The movies was the best one out of the three. I was a little campy in spots but it fit together and made a fine action flick. The fight scenes were incredible.

I thought it was alright, funnier then the others (but that more classic action movie 'funny' which was good) and it reminded me of the show. It was an hour too long though, Michael Bay clearly thinks he's a better film maker then he actually is.

Only slightly better than the 2nd one. Not a good movie though, always fun to watch. But clearly not anything special here.

I enjoyed it! a little annoyed this one wasn't focused more on the Autobots rather than Sam and the Marines but saying that id happily part with my money again to see this for a 2nd time. I'm with Tea after a stressful day at work sometimes you just want to watch stuff blow up.

It was a great way to start my weekend. The beginning was definitely great to watch. Some of the editing needed work. There were times that u knew it was Labeaouf's stunt double, but besides that no complaints.

good movie? technically no. enjoyable? yes.

i can see this trilogy being in the same category as Judge Dredd for me. Terrible movie, yet everytime it comes on TV, i can't help but watch it, because its fun. :)

its like this, True Grit was a very good movie, but i don't think i could ever watch it again, because its pretty boring. I'm very glad i watched it, but its not as fun as something like this. Make sense? good.

No, doesn't really make sense to me. If you found True Grit boring then you didn't think it was a good movie! Ok so basically you are admitting that you liked it, but that you liked a really bad movie. Cool, that's all I wanted to hear:)

Seriosuly though, I don't get teh double standard at all. So if a movie is fun and has good action, despite being pretty awful in other areas then it gets a pass? What about Green lantern? What about the batman Live stage show! That looks like campy fun no?

@ teabag

yeah i'm looking forward to it,i'm not expecting too much from the acting or storyline but the action & cgi does look top notch.

oh yeah i downloaded the incredible hulk xxx,i wanted another hulk film before the avengers.

my wish has been granted.

@CordogBurglar - Those are the best kinds of movies! Dredd was actually on TV about 2 weeks ago. Bay makes a lot of movies like that. The only Bay movies I own are transformers, but whenever Armegeddon, The Island or Badboys is on, I'm hooked every time.

I voted "Very Good" The best 3d yet. Best action so far this year. It was actually really funny to me(except John Malcovich, he was annoying). My only real complaint is that the movie ran a little long.

The constant lights, explosions, metal clashing, and screaming just literally gave me a migraine. I don't even remember the story that much.

@RorMachine - "So if a movie is fun and has good action, despite being pretty awful in other areas then it gets a pass?" YES!!! not only does it get a pass, it sounds like a pretty good "Action Movie"... lol

Not just saying that because i like transformers. If a "Comedy Movie" is poor in most areas but is hilarious otherwise, then its a good comedy. To me anyway...
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/5/2011, 6:50 AM
Tea, I thought Wolverine was decent. But the acting, story etc were all of a much higher standard than Transformers. Guilty pleasure? Not really..although I do have em. But they are mostly comedies or purposefully silly horrors etc. Something like Hobo With A Shotgun! My biggest problem with Transformers was Bay's attempts at drama and emotion..it was laughable. If he's gonna try to draw us in on a human level and fails so miserable, that HAS to be acknowledged. Action is only one part of it. But that's just how I look at it. I can't switch my brain off like that. Just because one scene of Ken Jeong simulating mouth rape with Shia Labouf is followed up by a great action sequence, it doesn't cancel it out.
Brashlight
Brashlight - 7/5/2011, 6:58 AM
I enjoyed it, the action was great and the effects were amazing but there were some parts that literally made me cringe. I Thought it was uneven and a little long. The final battle was pretty awesome but some of the emotional parts just felt forced. I'm not saying I regret paying for the movie although I personally don't think 3D added anything. Just my opinion, I did enjoy it for the most part though.

Guys who hate transformers please for the love of god I don't care who makes it don't go see it you shouldn't be there your not gonna like it. And by the way that opening cybertron sequence was awesome GO BAYFORMERS I hope he does the prequel
Brashlight
Brashlight - 7/5/2011, 7:01 AM
Gusto@ Same here, I only liked it as its own standalone movie though. the moment you try and connect it to the comics and create continuity in your own mind you want to blow your brains out (cough cough BarackaPool cough)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/5/2011, 7:01 AM
Tea, actually if someone found that drama and emotion effective in Transformers 3 that is exactly what they should do by way of punishment!

And I'm not saying that my standards should be instilled in everyone, I'm just trying to understand it. I'm actually asking the question: Explain to me how action is thrilling when you don't give a shit about the characters? And if you do give a shit, Why! Haha, if we can figure this out we can make as much cash as Bay!:)

cjkalel
cjkalel - 7/5/2011, 7:06 AM
@ror that's just it you don't care about the characters jus cus the way mike bay presented them to you doesn't strike an emotional chord doesn't mean it didn't for others I care about sam and I care about the autobots I was sad when optimus died in revenge and upset when ironhide caught it.

Oh come on, this poll is AWFUL! I really don't appreciate someone else forcing their own opinion into mine, so that if I want to say I liked the movie then OF COURSE the only conceivable thing I could have liked about it is the action : /

Seriously, that's really unfair and frustrating. I understand if he who created the poll didn't like the movie, but severely slanting the wording of the poll's options to suit your own view is ridiculous and completely takes away from even creating a poll at all, if you're not really willing to accept any opinions that differ from yours.

I was enjoying it for what it was until I saw 1/5 of cybertron as close as our moon next to the earth.

I kind of lost the mood to watch the film at that point.

I am actually glad that Transformers 3 is over and done. I do give credit to making the Tranformers look realistic but they have been almost unidentifable because of all of the moving parts. I don't want to see a reboot nor do I want a continuation, at this point let it just sit at three and go away.

Well that's fair enough Tea, my quest continues! But as for liking/disliking the characters. Ok, you didn't like em in Inception, that's cool. But if you break it down Nolan at least made them well rounded, 3 dimensional people and the cast gave very good/great performances. Bay gave us characatures, whiny, petulant heroes and porn star looking eye candy. The cast also barely acted and when they did it undone by the horrible dilog. So that is why I ask..WHY?:) But yes, that's just my opinion. I'd find it hard to argue with though:)

Ryguy88 - 7/5/2011, 9:30 AM
It's just personal taste. I agree with Ror as an action movie is so much more "fun" if you care about what happends to the characters and you are intrigued by the plot. I can still get entertainment out of a Transformers movie, but I wouldn't call it a good movie. And Hobo With A Shotgun is a great example of a so bad it's good kind of movie because everthing in that movie was intentional. The bad parts of Transformers are definitely not intentional.
