Pangu Plaza has asked Paramount to edit it's image out of the film and any advertising that might include the property after alleging that the terms of agreement pertaining the contract were not met.
The investment firm behind the luxurious Pangu Plaza had agreed to help finance production of the film and in return Pangu Plaza would be featured in the film, and it's advertising. It is also claimed by Pangu Plaza that in the agreement was stated that they would host an exhibition of props from the film as well as a VIP world premiere at the complex.
If the issue is not resolved it could delay the release of the film while it is being edited to exclude the landmark from the film and according to a Paramount representative's statement of friday, the building features very remarkably in the film.
"Pangu Plaza has a prominent placement in 'Transformers 4' and it looks beautiful onscreen. We regret that Pangu is not currently satisfied with certain aspects of our collaboration and are working to resolve it's concerns."
Paramount had recently stated it's desire to set the film in mainland China. How much of the film is set in China is not really know since it was previously reported that Detroit, was used as a stand-in for Hong Kong, McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois was redressed to portray a city in China. Michael Bay also tweeted that principal photography would be done in Hong Kong and later it was reported that Bay would film for one week in China.
Given the size of the complex it seems reasonably that it will take more than a week to accomplish Pangu Plaza's request wich could result in the films release to be pushed back.
The film has already premiered in Hong Kong and the firm behind Pangu are requesting the goverment agency that controls the release of films in China(SARFT), to stop or suspend the release of the film which is dated for June 27 in the mainland.
Although not sueing Paramount directly, Beijing Pangushi Investement Co. Ltd. has filed the complaint against Chengxin and Jua Fu China Limited.
Pangu has declared that the Chaoyang District Court in Beijing had accepted the case, although they were waiting on an "official response".
Transformers: Age of Extinction has a release date for June 27, 2014.
